Yeah finally after 19 years i was able to get her on the Missouri missing persons website and also got the local TV station to air this case again. There are just to many bricks (cops and investigators) in my way to get this case looked at. The local law enforcement say that they will not even review this case, that they will only work the leads that come in. Also I am finally putting officers on the line that have screwed up and am trying to make sure they pay for things they said and the ways they screwed this case up!

Always wondered about this case. It was talked about for only 30 seconds on UM during the Angela Hammond case. I guess they felt it was linked somehow although as time has gone on I think that theory has been debunked has it not (?) because of the third case it was tied to Trudy Darby. I could be wrong.
But if I remember correctly Cheryl was leaving her place of business at night locking up when she was said to be abducted or gone missing. The picture they showed of her was on her wedding day. Just wondering whatever happened to her husband? Did he remarry? Did she have any kids (I doubt it since she was 20 or so right?) and does her family still have hope that she is alive a la Jaycee Dugaard? |

Crazytatsink is Cheryl's son. I know he posted a link in another thread to a recent news story done on her disappearance. Crazytatsink, can you give us an update on what's been going on?

The truth is Cheryl was 30 not 20. I was ten at the time. Not much new news. Leads have came in and have been investigated. The only thing i can really say is that the Missouri Highway Patrol Missing Persons unit has been doing an excellent job at helping me with this case. Its amazing what one person can do if he puts his mind to it. It took now 19 years to get this case going somewhere and I have finally got her some recognition that she deserves. I have to say I would hate for anyone else to disappear from a small town like Nevada, Mo. because the cops there have a hard time trying to investigate things, or they say they just dont have the resources. But with a little push from someone above them they have started having to investigate some things for themselves.

There was a skull found a few miles from where she disappeared a few years ago. The sheriff's dept will not comment on whether it was checked for DNA or not. There was also an unconfirmed sighting of her, near New Madrid, Mo., a few months after she diappeared.
A friend of mine, says she had an abusive boyfriend, don't know if that is true or not. I moved back here in 1992, after leaving in 1972, so I did not know her. |

The law enforcement here in Nevada, Mo. is very poor. 5 years ago a close friend of mine was murdered here. The police left the crime scene open all night. By the time they went back, all the evidence was in a dumpster and unusable. The detective admitted to us that they screwed up. His cause of death was left as "undetermined." So don't expect much help from them.

This case is one of many in which piqued my fear of working the graveyard shift; especially in a secluded area. Of course someone has to work those hours, but still.

There was a skull that was found it sat in a evidence room for a while investigators were bouncing up and down saying it was her. After about 6 years the skull went into the hands of the Hwy. Ptrl. there it sat in an office after DNA was taken from my sister and my dad. Here is the point in the newspaper they stated that they took DNA from Cheryls kids and was waiting for results. Now refer to the underlined, DNA was never taken from me. The first time it came back inconclusive. I fought with them to do another DNA testing after a **** load of phone calls i was threaten by the lead investigator Miles Parks from the HWY. PTRL that they had spent enough on the dna testing and if i wanted another dna test done then he would send me the f@ck!ng bones in the mail and i could pay for it myself. Well it finally went back out about 3 yrs ago and came back that of a male. It was sent out again for wax reconstruction, now they arent sure if science was right now it could possibly be a young boy or a female by the way the reconstruction was done. This never hit local newspapers that it was proved to be a male. Real weird Huh?

I would like to know more about this case. I do remember her name being mentioned on the Angela Hammond segment. Has this case been featured on any other shows? Did she disappear in a way similar to that of Angela Hammond?
