When did Felix and Oscar meet? - Sitcoms Online Message Boards

I was looking at an episode of Odd Couple, titled "Jury Story", and shows that Felix and Oscar first met while on jury duty. However, the opening credits state that the two divorced men were childhood friends. How DID they really first meet? Can someone clear me up on this?

The first time they met was when they were kids and their parents were hiding out from the mob in Chicago

Odd Couple had more back story than any sitcom I know.

When I stopped waching the show for a year and then started watching again and didn't hear the narrator say "CHILDHood" I thought I had wrongly remembered that word.

we all know the odd couple have several inconsistencies.

1. guys I got stamped together back in Bayonne high. That means
Felix,Oscar,murray,speed,roy and Vinny grew up together in Bayonne New Jersey
2. Felix and Oscar meet as kids on Chicago.thenoscar to philly and ny and felix to toledo.
3.Oscar meets Murray for the 'first time' in the Army through Felix.
In this same episode Oscar marries Blanche.
4.If blanche married oscar in the army,then how could they have spent there honeymoon at the rangers/red wings game where Blanche was hit by a puck. they spent it in the army barracks
5.another one is when felix knocks on an already divorced oscars door in the opening credits to say he's(felix) divorced and needs a place to live. but in one show felix and gloria get divorced first while on vacation with oscar and blanche.

too many too mention!!

another time, Oscar says he never returned the tuxedo he wore at his wedding, but in another show, they show Oscar & Blanche getting married, and Oscar wore his army uniform.

Another time, Oscar says he never told his mother he's divorced. In fact, the entire plot is about that. But in another episode, he says his mother's been after him to get a girlfriend "since I got divorced".

the show has as many mistakes as "MASH"!
