Default Were the old "Boy Meets World" characters ruined for the sake of the sequel's story

Bare in mind that I'm quoting from a post from the BMW susubreddit for don't take my own words for it:
Quote:
Angela Moore

Angela was given the worst ending out of all the characters. Angela gets one appearance in the show, but she was mentioned a lot throughout the series when talking about Shawn. The episode she appears in was the worst in the entire show.

For starters, who the hell decides to travel from Europe to America to see their high school ex-boyfriend whom they haven’t spoken to since college? Why does she need to hear his opinion on whether or not she should have kids? Nobody does this. She suddenly reveals to him that she’s married out of nowhere. Like after not even speaking to him and any of the group for years. The annoying part is she never left any of them on bad terms. But GMW makes us think that she did. Like she chose to leave and forget about them. When we know that Angela left her decision up to Shawn. By the end of it was a neutral breakout. We know they were both okay and they were never fully saying goodbye to each other. At the end of ‘Angela’s Ashes,’ Angela says “Let’s not say goodbye, let’s just say I love you.”

Back to the episode, when Angela appears for the first time after over 15 years her friends treat her as if she is the devil. Angela shows up and the first thing Cory says about her to Shawn is “the only person who can change your life from pretty good to aaah!” After being friends with her for years he isn’t even excited to see her. Cory treats her as if she is a home wrecker who abandoned Shawn. However, in BMW Cory was the biggest shipper of Shawn and Angela. Cory would go to extreme lengths to get the two to stay together. He’d invade their privacy and break boundaries so far that they had to give him a restraining order.

A major problem I have with this episode is not just how her friends treated her but how Riley and Maya acted. When Angela reveals that she is married you hear in the background Maya yelling yay. This is disgusting and so insulting to the original fans who didn’t even get to mourn the breakup. It’s treated like a good thing and something we want to happen. Angela was made to look so evil the main characters didn’t like her and were rooting against her. What the writers should have done was at least given this girl the respect they did with Jack when he returned and just have the conversation be just between Shawn and Angela. They have this big moment they teased repeatedly in order to get fans back but just to bait them into watching this trainwreck. Having Riley and Maya here manipulates the fans into seeing Angela is the enemy. From their reactions and everything they say, the writers told you how you should think rather than allowing us to think for ourselves.

In an effort to wrap things up, Angela’s character was completely disrespected while the fans were gaslighted into thinking she was bad.

I can't say because I haven't seen each episode of Girl Meets World and sadly one episode that I missed is the one that included Matthew Lawrence.

God bless you and him always!!!

Holly

P.S. Is this show still shown at all on the Disney network? If no, will it ever get a DVD release?
