Nah. It ain't that bad of a comparison. Besides, Mrs. Gaines wouldn't have none of that nor Kim's police detective father.

Still, In retrospect, Jalessa and Col Taylor were not the couple that I would have put together.

Well, they spent Valentine's day together at his house. She had dinner over there. Then, during Sinbad's final episode, his character Walter says he didn't know that Col Taylor "would start dating his woman".

Jaleesa was the character I hated the most so her hooking up with Brad didn't do any kind of damage to her character lol

Default A Look at Sitcom Characters Ruined by Their Own Shows

Jaleesa (A Different World)

This is a perfect case of the show mucking a character up. A Different World was of course the spin off from The Cosby Show. Jaleesa, played by Dawn Lewis, was the elder student in the dorm at Hillman, and sort of served as a mother figure. She a divorced woman and very smart. As the series became more about Dwayne and Whitley, Jaleessa got seen less. Then in Season 5, the show opened with the shocking news that Jaleesa had run off and married Col. Turner. OK, this made no sense really. But it may have been OK, except that suddenly Jaleesa went from being this strong type to a weepy pregnant woman who was always crying. Not surprising Lewis jumped ship for Hangin' with Mr. Cooper, and her character just vanished without explanation.

At least she took a chance with Cooper. Either way, she would have been out of the job. At least with Cooper, she was front and center again instead of being phased into the background.

I'm sure this has been said before, but thinking about it now, it seemed like that after Sinbad (Walter) left, they really didn't know what to do with Jalessa's character.
