What is that concrete strip that Marlo is running on? - Sitcoms Online Message Boards

Ok, just a question on something that I've wondered about ever since I was a kid watching this show. During the end credits (from the 2nd season on,) we see Marlo Thomas chasing after "The Kite" as it sails away.

Can anyone tell me what exactly that surface is that she's running on? I thought, a landing strip? Some sort of loading area? That's been buggin' me for a long, long time! :-)

I believe it's a loading dock for ships and boats. Since it's in the water I think it would be dangerous for planes to land there.

I would think the circle with the "H" on it would be a helicopter landing pad.
