Default Beaver's Grandparents

So how come he didn't have any? Were all four of his grandparents dead? And how come he didn't have any aunts and uncles? I think Ward had siblings and I think June mentioned a sister. Aunt Martha and Uncle Billy were Beaver's GREAT aunt and GREAT uncle. And how come Beaver didn't have any cousins? Huh? How come?

The kids had an Uncle Tom who lived in Florida. I got the impression that Junes parents were dead and that she was raised primarily by Aunt Martha and lived at boarding school. I assumed Wards parents were still living but maybe lived far away. Don't remember any cousins being mentioned.

Ward lived on a farm and there might not be that many farms near Mayfield. Uncle Billy seemed to be a lot order then Ward. So maybe Wards parents died to. Thats weird because every season either Wally or the Beav had a birthday and the never thought about what they might get from there grandparents

I thought of something else to maybe Ward and Junes parents don't know where Mayfield is either just like us.

It's a mystery Leave it to Beaver fans will never know. Maybe Ward and June's parents passed away before Wally was born.

I have always wondered that myself. If they would have Ward and June's parents still alive, there could have been several episode ideas. June did have a sister(Peggy) who she went to visit when she had a baby to help take care of her.

Default Grandparents

I have always figured that all four grandparents are dead. Because June was raised by that combination of Aunt Martha and boarding school that was mentioned, I had always thought that her parents had died when she was young, but a couple of episodes mention things that went on with her mother in the past, including one that mentions her mother coming up to boarding school. That leaves some questions about June's mother, but it seems like she must be dead by the time the boys are aroud. I don't think June ever mentions a father, so he probably does die when June is still very young.

Since Ward seems to mention several siblings on various episodes, I have always figured Uncle Tom was one of them. There is also an Uncle Harry that comes up on an episode, and I figured he is probably another one.

Peggy's baby is the cousin of the boys, but strangely only comes up on that one episode, and even on that episode the baby doesn't really seem to matter very much. June seems to forget all about her sister after that, until a couple of seasons later, when she mentions something about her sister. It is possible that they were never close, since Peggy may not have been at school with June.

In the 'Still the Beaver' series, Ward's sister Gloria shows up for thanksgiving- played by Hugh Beaumont's real sister (also named Gloria as I recall).

June mentioned her father once that I recall and I cannot think of the exact episode but I believe it was an early Maple Drive episode. June told Ward that when she was a girl of 9 she enjoyed looking at an opal ring in the display window at Sutter's. June said her father suggested she get galoshes rather than the ring. From this moment, we know then that June's father was alive when she was 9 and that they were probably living in Mayfield because June referred to Sutter's as though Ward knew the store.

That was the episode where Beaver wants that silly Eskimo sweater for $13 and when he does get it, Judy has the same one so he ditches it at the movies.
