The best implementation I ever saw of this was on the old old major league baseball forums, like circa 2003-2006.

Rather than just showing "likes" vs "dislikes", it showed an overall approval rating in terms of a percent. So,... up-votes would improve your approval rating, and down-votes would reduce it.

And the best part was, you could go back and up vote and down vote posts that were years old.

So, people having 10K+ posts had considerable exposure, and had to think twice before resorting to snark type attacks, lest you could put a serious hurt upon their community status.

It's not a competition race, but an info forum and I could care not about likes/dislikes.

There was this special feature where those who didn't want to vote, didn't have to. It was completely voluntary. (something for everyone)

I'm not referring to the survey, I'm talking about forums in general, I'm not a member on them for likes/dislikes, info and chats, discussions. etc...

You can stop holding your breath. A Health/Wellness board is never going to happen. There might be a time when the Politics/COVID-19 board is closed. It's not really worth the aggravation it brings.

There needs to be some topics for the main Chit Chat board. An occasional health thread here or there is fine.

TJ: Did the politics board bring a lot of aggrevation Before Covid drama? Now that Covid may be a bit of history, the board seems pretty quiet.

You could say there has been some drama and fireworks in the past. I guess it's alright when there's intelligent debate. We could do without the personal attacks and insults. Some people have said it's relatively peaceful at times. It's definitely not for everybody.

It might be time for a name change. Maybe Politics and Current Events/Other Controversies.

I don't think there's any built-in option or modifications for this vBulletin version (see https://www.vbulletin.org/forum/show...ghlight=reddit). I'm reluctant to make any big changes or to switch to other forum software.

I will never understand the appeal and popularity of Reddit. It's impossible to follow any threads that have a lot of posts. All of the threads within threads. It's not a real community like a traditional forum. It's just hundreds and thousands of people adding their comments. I don't know how people can spend so much time on there.

I think a health base would be quite good.... Me and Carole can put GOOD stuff on that base!
