Sad was Darlene's depression....

For several episodes Darlene was withdrawn from her family, and it was mentioned that she was depressed. I don't think it was ever said why.... Does anyone know why not since it seemed to be a big part of several shows?

They never really pinpointed a reason. Just a severe case of teenage angst, I guess.

I've been waiting for that storyline to be fleshed out. I guess it doesn't happen which doesn't make sense.
This wasn't a case of a kid with the blues. She became extremely withdrawn from everyone and was a major bitch to everyone around her.
I've been waiting for a psychiatrist to hit the scene.

i think it was because she just started high school and all her friends had changed, people expected her to become like becky. I thought this because in one episode Roseanne asks whats wrong and she says everyone- her friends, her parents.

Bubblegum, you're right. I just saw the episode when they had Thanksgiving dinner and her great grandmother went upstairs to talk to her. Darlene told her she was upset because all of her friends changed since high school and she didn't and they weren't excepting her the way she is. That's the gist so far anyway. She also said they she felt that none of her friends understood her anymore, almost as though her friends are followers and changed to be excepted in high school.

She also said that on "Darlene fades to black". A friend and I were arguing and I said she wasn't a Gothic but my friend thinks she was. does anyone know if she was just wearing black or what?

What do you mean? The episode where she starts her depression and goes out and buys a bunch of black clothes? That was just on today.

duh, now I got it. Sorry. She purposely went out and bought black clothes and that's when Rosanne realized something was really wrong.

Yeah, I remember everyone being so excited about Darlene having her first friend in like a year and then it turns out to be a middle aged woman!
