MISS FINE!! Fran Drescher is back as the nasally voiced nanny of the 90s that America loved. In the second season, Fran Drescher, Charles Shaughnessy, Daniel Davis, Lauren Lane, Nicholle Tom, Benjamin Salisbury, Madeline Zima and Renee Taylor are all up to their usual tricks. Some hilarious plots include Fran dressing up like a man to infiltrate an exclusive all-male club; Maxwell dating a woman who looks exactly like Fran; Niles auditioning for a Sheffield production and Fran and CC getting locked in the "whine" cellar. And that's only the beginning! This three disc set includes all 26 original episodes from the second season.

Memorable Episodes / Notable Guest Stars:

The second season of "The Nanny" boasted many memorable episodes such as: "Fran Lite" in which Max begins dating a Fran look-alike. "Curse of the Grandma's" in which Gracie (who is a Red Robin) volunteers at Yetta's nursing home but fears she is cursed after her elderly partners keep dying. "A Star is Unborn" is the one where Fran is cast in a Broadway production of "Romeo and Juliet." "Whine Cellar" in which CC and Fran share a rare bonding moment locked in the wine cellar. "The Strike" is the one where a busboy strike sets off a series of events that land Fran and Maxwell on The Sally Jesse Raphael Show. "Kindervelt Days" in which Fran "wins" a date with Erik Estrada. "Lamb Chop's On the Menu" in which loses Shari Lewis' Lamb Chop puppet and tries to replace it with one she makes herself. "Close Shave" is the one where Fran is mistaken for a nurse and has to shave Maxwell before his appendectomy. "Strange Bedfellows" in which, after a wild night at a friend's farewell party, Fran wakes up in Maxwell's bedroom and doesn't remember how she got there. "Fran Gets Mugged" in which Fran is robbed in Central Park and loses Maxwell's priceless Shakespeare memento.

Some guest-stars this season include Richard Kind ("The Playwright"), Ben Vereen and Wallace Shawn ("Pinske Business"), Corbin Bernsen ("Stock Tip"), Bob Barker ("When You Pish Upon A Star"), Sally Jesse Raphael ("The Strike"), Erik Estrada and Morgan Brittany ("Kindervelt Days"), Eydie Gorme and Steve Lawrence ("Canasta Masta"), Christopher Rich ("A Fine Friendship"), Shari Lewis ("Lamb Chop's On The Menu"), Christina Pickles ("Close Shave"), Billy Ray Cyrus ("A Kiss Is Just A Kiss"), Tyne Daly ("Strange Bedfellows"), Tracy Nelson, Patrick Cassidy and Lauren Tom ("The Chatterbox").

The box art follows the same design as the first season. A solo shot of a barely clad Fran with a drawing of a scene taken from the opening credits. The overall design is an animal print, which is continued from the first season. The set itself is slip sleeve (Season One was as well). The big difference from Season One is that instead of using photos of the cast, they use drawings (the ones you see in "The Nanny" opening sequence). The first case has a drawing of Fran and the second case has a drawing of the kids, plus Maxwell and Niles. The first case contains Discs 1 and 2 while case two contains Disc 3. Disc 1 has a drawing of Fran on it and episodes 1-9. Disc 2 has a drawing of Maxwell on it and episodes 10-18. Disc 3 has a drawing of the kids and episodes 19-26 on it.

Menu Design and Navigation:

The menu is animated (ala "THE NANNY" opening sequence) and shows an animated Fran walking from the Bridal Shop to the Sheffield's door and then the menu options appear. There is a continuous loop of music (although it's not the theme song). There are several different menu options. There is a "Play All" selection, a "Languages" selection (you can choose French or Spanish), and an "Episode Selection" menu.

Video and Audio Quality:

I always have trouble summing this part up. I'm no expert on the video aspect. It's clear, bright and clean most of the time, no major problems to worry about. Audio is fine, also, nothing to be worried about there. There are chapter skips for each episode and each episode runs approx. 23-24 minutes in length.

Special Features:

Oy vey! Unlike the first season, the second season set contains nothing in terms of bonus features--a huge disappointment after a stellar first season release. Sony... I'm talking to you! The fans want special features!

Final Comments:

Well, despite the lack of special features, THE NANNY fans should be thrilled to have their favorite show's second season available on DVD, restored and uncut. But Sony, the fans want bonus features. Commentary, promos, bloopers, anything! I was very disappointed with this release in terms of special features. Other than that, it's great having all 26 episodes from the second season on DVD, and the lack of bonus features shouldn't stop fans from getting this set, it's a must have!

Final Numbers (out of 5 stars - How our point system works)

Video Quality: 5/5
Audio Quality: 4.5/5
Special Features: 0/5
Menu Navigation/Design: 4.5/5
Overall: 4/5
