ROSEANNE, one of the most definitive situation comedies of the 1990s, is back on DVD for her seventh season from Anchor Bay/Starz Home Entertainment! Issues tackled this season include Roseanne's (ROSEANNE) unexpected pregnancy, Dan's (JOHN GOODMAN) shaving of his arm-pits for medical reasons, Jackie's (LAURIE METCALF) over-protectiveness of her newborn son, DJ's (MICHAEL FISHMAN) ever evolving weirdness while the friction between Becky (SARAH CHALKE) and Darlene (SARA GILBERT) reaches an all-time high.

Memorable Episodes / Notable Guest Stars:

Some memorable episodes include: "Nine Is Enough" in which Roseanne reveals she's pregnant. "Two for One" in which Roseanne discovers Darlene is having an affair. "Snoop Davey Dave" is the one in which David takes pleasure in ratting out Darlene to Roseanne. "Girl Talk" is the one in which Becky and Mark have trouble in bed, which sparks a revealing conversation between Mark, Fred and Dan. "Sleeper" is the one in which David has a sexual fantasy involving one of the Conner women. "Skeleton in the Closet" in which, for once, the joke is on Roseanne. "White Men Can't Kiss" in which DJ won't kiss a black girl in a play. "Rear Window" in which Dan and Roseanne can't help buy watch their elderly neighbors next door -- run around the house naked! "My Name Is Bev" in which Bev reveals she is an alcoholic. "The Clip Show: All About Rosey" in which famous sitcom moms welcome Roseanne into their club. "Happy Trailers" is the one in which Becky and Mark move into a shabby trailer. "Sherwood Schwartz: A Loving Tribute" is the one in which Dan's dream of building a boat leads to an episode full of fantasy and fun -- "Gilligan's Island" style!

Memorable guest stars this season include Glenn Quinn ("Mark"), Johnny Galecki ("David"), Michael O'Keefe ("Fred"), Estelle Parsons ("Bev"), Sandra Bernhard ("Nancy") and Martin Mull ("Leon") co-star. Guest stars include Ellen DeGeneres, Sharon Stone, Shelley Winters, Danny Masterson, Traci Lords, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, June Lockhart, Barbara Billingsley, Pat Crowley, Isabel Sanford and more!

The same kind of design is used as the past six releases. Roseanne and Dan are on the cover, over an orange striped background. Underneath them is a slew of photos from episodes. The back of the box features a cast photo of all six main actors. The set is slip sleeve and features two cases that hold the four discs for the set. The cases themselves feature an orange striped background and showcase episode still shots. The back of each case features episode titles, a brief one-sentence description, and the disc the episodes.

The first case holds Discs 1 and 2. Disc One contains episodes 1-7 and features a picture of Roseanne. Disc 2 contains episodes 8-14 and features a picture of Dan. The second case holds Discs 3 and 4. Disc 3 contains episodes 15-21 (episodes 19 and 20 are aired as an hour-long episode) and features a picture of Jackie while Disc 4 contains episodes 21-25 and features Roseanne and Dan. Each disc is red in color.

Menu Design and Navigation:

The main menu is in the exact same format as prior releases. It's a near identical shot of the box art. The main menu features an orange striped background, the same shot of Roseanne and Dan, and has the theme song looping in the background. There is a "Play All" option that lets you play every episode un-interrupted. There is also an "Episodes" selection, which takes you to a sub-menu that lists each episode you can choose from.

Video and Audio Quality:

The video itself is getting better and better. Each episode seems bright and vibrant--nothing to be worried about. The same goes for the audio, very good and nothing to worry about. Each episode features the chapter skip option and each episode appears to be uncut (says that in the set info, too), running a good 22 to 23 minutes at length.

Special Features:

Lately we have just gotten episodes on the set. While that is the most important thing obviously, Anchor Bay/Starz didnít give us any extras once again after a good start when the series first came on DVD.

Final Comments:

Well, on the plus side, the video quality keeps getting better! The sets are polished, and it is always a pleasure to get to watch Roseanne on DVD. My only gripe is the lack of bonus features. What happened to the cast interviews? Roseanne's commentary? Why was it dropped? That's my only gripe. Other than that, I definitely encourage everyone to get ROSEANNE - SEASON 7, it's comedy at it's finest and it proves that sitcoms can still tackle serious subjects and that a sitcom doesn't always need to end on a happy note!

Final Numbers (out of 5 stars - How our point system works)

Video Quality: 5/5
Audio Quality: 5/5
Special Features: N/A
Menu Navigation/Design: 4.5/5
Overall: 4.5/5
