The Mothers-In-Law aired from September 1967 until September 1969 on NBC.
The Hubbards and the Buells had been neighbors in suburban Los Angeles for 15 years. Herb Hubbard( Herbert Rudley), was a successful lawyer and a member of the board of trustees of his alma mater. His wife, Eve( Eve Arden), was a great cook, former champion golfer, terrific gardener and supporter of all the right causes.
The Buells, on the other hand, were unconventional. Roger Buell ( Roger Carmel),was a television writer who did most of his work at home and would test his scripts on anyone who happened to be available. His wife, Kaye( Kaye Ballard), was not a very good housekeeper and was rather overbearing on occasion.
However, despite their differences, the Hubbards and the Buells were the best of friends and their children had gotten married to each other. The children, Jerry and Susie( Jerry Fogel, Deborah Walley),were both in college and had to cope with in-laws who had very different ideas on how they should live.
Roger Carmel left the show after the first season in a contract dispute and was replaced by Richard Deacon.
Desi Arnaz, the executive producer of this series, also appeared occasionally as bullfighter Raphael del Gado.
