Simple sitcom about lawyer Harry Archer (John Eldredge), his wife Janet (Mary Brian) daughter Corliss (Ann Baker) and her boyfriend Dexter (Robert Ellis). Each episode has brief segments where they break from live action to a cartoon drawing. They relate to the episode and a narrator tells a stupid joke. The show was big on radio and a TV show was done in 1951 with Lugene Sanders as Corliss. Robert Ellis also played Dexter in that first attempt.
Christmas episode: The family goes around trying to hide presents from each other,. The only one who is successful is Harry. No one can find his hiding place. Harry and his neighbor are decorating the tree when Dexter comes over.
He wants to use the Archer's tool shed to construct his Christmas presents for everyone. Corliss goes to help him. Dexter turns off the fuse box and that wrecks the lights on the Christmas tree at the house. Later Harry joins Dexter in the shed and this leads to a lot of slapstick.
The episode continues on and the day arrives. Dexter brings in his homemade gifts. One is a reclining chair that's too low to the ground the other is a device that's supposed to automatically close windows. They're disasters.
Now it's time for Harry to reveal where he hid the presents. Thinking he was doing a favor Dexter manages to cement over where they were hidden. Of course this being a Christmas episode in sitcom land everything gets straightened out.
Ann Baker did guest shots on a few TV shows after the series. The last one was on The Millionaire in 1959.
Lugene Sanders played Babs on the William Bendix version of The Life Of Riley (1953-58).
