"Military Maneuvers - Larry Fishburne, Arrika Wells and A.C. Weary (l-r) are three of the stars of "The Six O'Clock Follies," a comedy-drama series about personnel assigned to an Armed Forces TV station in Vietnam during the war, which will have its first presentation on NBC-TV Thursday, April 24 (9-10 p.m. NYT)."

The Six O'Clock Follies aired from April until September 1980 on NBC.

This 60 minute comedy-drama, was television's first Vietnam-themed
program. The setting was the Armed Forces Vietnam Network (AFVN) TV
station in wartime Saigon, circa 1967. The show was about the staff
who produced "The AFVN News and Sports," a six-o'clock news program
that was also known as "The Follies." Colonel Harvey Marvin (Joby
Baker) was the commanding officer; Candi LeRoy (Aarika Wells) was the
weather girl; Sam Paige (A.C. Weary) and Don "Robby" Robinson
(Laurence Fishburne) were the newscasters; Lt. Vaughn Beuhler (Randall
Carver) was Marvin's aide; Midas Metcovitch (Philip Charles MacKenzie)
was the TV director; Ho (George Kee Cheung) was the station's janitor;
Percy Wiggins (David Hubbard) was the technician; Lou Roskoe (Howard
Witt) was the Associated Press reporter and Marcel Valjean (Byron
Webster) was a scheming businessman. Fred Travalena was the voice of
President Lyndon B. Johnson. This comedy-drama starring an early
Laurence Fishburne (who starred in "Apocalypse Now" one year earlier)
and featuring then-unknown actors Bill Paxton and Phil Hartman, was
pulled after two episodes aired in April (4/24 & 4/26), for its
distasteful treatment of the war. The show returned once that August
(8/2), and one more episode was burned off that September (9/13). Two
of the six episodes that were filmed remained unaired.
