(see this users gallery) This one season sitcom ran from September 1965 until August 1966 on NBC.
Air Force Major John Foster ( John Forsythe), had been a bachelor all his life and his dealings with women had been exclusively social. When he retired from the Air Force he became the headmaster of the Foster School, an exclusive San Francisco school for girls that he had recently inherited from his Aunt Victoria. Helping him run the school was a former Air Force sergeant and friend Ed Robbins ( Guy Marks ). The clash of these 2 men with an alien environment produced unexpectant results. Misunderstandings between them and Miss Culver ( Elsa Lanchester), the school principal, were frequent and often hilarious. Ann B. Davis ( later Alice of The Brady Bunch), played Miss Wilson, the gym teacher. The students included Pamelyn Ferdin as Pamela; Darleen Carr as Kathy; Peggy Lipton ( later of The Mod Squad) as Joanna; Tracy Stratford as Susan and Sara Ballentine as Janice. John Forsythe's 2 daughters Brooke ( aged 11), and Page (aged 14) were also among the young actresses portraying students at the school. Brooke played Norma Jean and Paige played Marcia.
In the spring of 1966 there was a change in format. The Foster school was no longer the center of attention as John and Ed became world-traveling undercover agents for the U.S. government using the school only as a base from which to start, or end, their adventures. Their missions were not heavy cloak-and-dagger stuff, but were definately more serious, and romantic, than anything that had happened at the school. No matter, the series never made it to a second season.
