Mork & Mindy on DVD:
Wild, wacky and operating at warp speed, meet Mork from planet Ork - the maniacal alien of Mork & Mindy, the riotous television sitcom presented in this complete "Season One" DVD collection. Actor-comedian Robin Williams zoomed to stardom with co-star Pam Dawber in this laugh-filled comedy series spawned from a 1978 episode of Happy Days.
Dispatched from Ork in his egg-shaped spacecraft, the lovable Orkan hurtles to Earth near the town of Boulder Colorado, where he is befriended by pretty college student Mindy McConnell (Dawber). Mork's mission is to observe the bizarre customs of the earthlings and then report back to his great Orkan leader, Orson. He tries his best to adapt to his new environment - not an easy task when you innocently wear your clothes backwards, sit in a chair upside down, or blurt out "Shazbot!" when things go awry. It's an out-of-this-world series of laughs and escapades when human being meets humanoid hurricane in Mork & Mindy.

Mork & Mindy was a spin-off from an episode of Happy Days in which Mork, an alien from the planet Ork, attempted to kidnap Richie. So popular was Mork that he was given his own series in 1978 and it became an instant hit.
Mork (Robin Williams), a misfit on Ork because of his sense of humor, was sent off to study Earthlings, whose "crazy" customs the "Orkans" had never been able to understand. Mork landed in a giant eggshell near Boulder, Colorado and was befriended by pretty Mindy McConnell (Pam Dawber), a music store clerk. Mork looked human but his strange mix of Orkan and Earthling customs led most people to think of him as just some kind of nut. Aware of his origins, Mindy helped him adjust to Earth's strange ways.
The cosmic comedy continues in this four-disc, second season collection. Na-no, Na-no!

roller skater, coming face to face with the real Robin Williams and helping Mindy become an Orkan! Shazbat!

HOLLYWOOD, Calif. - Starring Robin Williams in his best known television role, MORK & MINDY: THE COMPLETE SERIES will be available for the first time ever on DVD December 9 from CBS Home Entertainment and Paramount Home Media Distribution.
Also starring Pam Dawber as Mindy, Mork & Mindy was nominated for two Primetime Emmy Awards for "Outstanding Comedy Series" and "Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series" (for Williams) during its first season. MORK & MINDY: THE COMPLETE SERIES includes the show's fourth season, never-before-released on DVD, a favorite for many fans as it includes unforgettable performances from legendary comedian and Williams' idol, Jonathan Winters. MORK & MINDY: THE FOURTH SEASON will also be released separately December 9.
In addition to all four seasons being restored, both releases will include the two episodes from the TV series Happy Days, which "hatched" the Mork character.
"The manic brilliance of Robin Williams was a gift that the world enjoyed for nearly 40 years," said Ken Ross, president of CBS Home Entertainment. "We hope this commemoration of one of our first glimpses into that genius can be a significant part of the many tributes to his legacy."
The story centers on Mork (Williams), a clueless but good-hearted alien, who is sent from his home planet of Ork to Earth in order to learn about humans. His ship lands near Boulder, Colorado, where he is befriended by Mindy (Dawber) who puts Mork up in her attic while he learns about human foibles and makes nightly reports to his boss Orson about his discoveries.
Written to accommodate Williams' improvised dialogue and physical comedy, Mork & Mindy featured numerous noteworthy guest stars including John Larroquette, William Shatner, Paul Reubens, Barbara Billingsley, Roddy McDowall, Raquel Welch, Henry Winkler, Penny Marshall and David Letterman, among others. It aired from 1978-1982.
The 15-disc DVD collection includes all four seasons with 95 restored episodes, and will be available in 4x3 Full Screen Format with English Mono. MORK & MINDY: THE COMPLETE SERIES will be available for the suggested retail price of $129.99 U.S. and $149.99 CAN. 03/02/12: Mork & Mindy Coming to The Hub in April
The Hub had its upfront presentation yesterday and the big highlight for us was the acquisition of three sitcoms for its primetime sitcom block! The Hub announced the acquisitions of the popular classic TV sitcoms The Facts of Life, Mork & Mindy and Sabrina, the Teenage Witch. All three series are currently not airing anywhere, as Sabrina was last seen on ABC Family in early 2011. Mork & Mindy was last seen in marathons on Syfy from about 2008-2011 from time to time. And The Facts of Life has not been on US cable since Nick at Nite and marathons on TV Land a decade ago.
The three sitcoms will join the line-up tentatively in April. More info will come in the coming weeks, so stay with us, as we can't release it yet. What will happen to the current sitcoms (Family Ties, The Wonder Years, Doogie Howser, Happy Days, Laverne & Shirley and Batman)? Will some leave or will they all stay? You'll have to come on back for the actual schedule. View The Hub upfront press release.

BEHIND THE CAMERA: THE UNAUTHORIZED STORY OF "MORK & MINDY"
NBC.com > Mork & Mindy - with photos and preview
NBC once again offers viewers a peek behind the entertainment curtain as it re-visits the 1970s classic comedy "Mork & Mindy" in a new movie, "Behind the Camera: The Unauthorized Story of 'Mork & Mindy'" -- based on the beloved series that launched the career of the Award-winning actor and beloved comedian Robin Williams.
The movie provides an entertaining and hard-hitting behind the scenes look at the classic comedy series that launched the career of Robin Williams. Newcomer Chris Diamantopoulos (NBC's "American Dreams") will portray Williams, whose role as the winsome alien visitor, "Mork," captured the hearts of millions of American viewers. Williams began his career as a young, rising comedian who was cast as an alien on an episode of "Happy Days" which unexpectedly became a huge ratings success and catapulted him into overnight television stardom.
Erinn Hayes ("Significant Others") also stars as Pam Dawber, a young actress who became instantly recognized for her role as "Mindy," the likeable human who "Mork" boarded with on the sitcom. And Daniel Roebuck (who starred as Jay Leno in "The Late Shift") plays legendary television sitcom producer Garry Marshall.
The movie exposes the cast's tumultuous four years of creative infighting, personal problems, network interference as well as depicts Williams' painful struggle to cope with his newfound fame and overnight success. People all over were wearing the Mork costumes for Halloween. Even when it wasn't Halloween, the striped suspenders were all the rage. Along with everyone using the phrase, "Na nu Na nu". Robin couldn't escape from it.
"Behind the Camera: The Unauthorized Story of 'Mork & Mindy'" is executive-produced by Matt Dorff (NBC's "Behind the Camera: The Unauthorized Story of 'Charlie's Angels'") and Jim Head ("A Christmas Wedding") and produced by Once Upon a Time Films. Neil Fearnley ("Inside the Osmonds") directs from writer, David Misch, whose first writing job was on "Mork & Mindy."

9:00PM TV Land Moguls: The 70's: Part II. Although dismissed by the critics, Aaron Spelling and his partner Leonard Goldberg had one of the most prolific and profitable production company's in the 70's -- from Charlie's Angels and Starsky & Hutch to The Love Boat and Fantasy Island. Former advertising executive, Lee Rich's Lorimar Productions produces The Waltons and Eight Is Enough, but it's Dallas that brings phenomenal ratings success and signals the emergence of primetime soaps (Dynasty, Knots Landing).
