Hogan! HOGAN! That's Colonel Hogan (Robert Crane) and his merry-band of misfits (Robert Clary, Richard Dawson, Ivan Dixon and Larry Hovis) at Stalag 13. It's one hilarious scheme after another against poor Colonel Klink (Werner Klemperer) and Sgt. Schultz (John Banner) in this 4-disc set containing all 26 episodes from the fifth season of the hit CBS series, digitally re-mastered and unedited.

Memorable Episodes / Notable Guest Stars:

Memorable episodes this season include: "Hogan Goes Hollywood" in which Hogan, to transmit information home, hires an American actor to star in a German propaganda film. "Unfair Exchange" is the one where Hogan kidnaps General Burkhalter's sister in exchange for a captured Allied agent. "The Kommandant Dies at Dawn" in which Klink is set up for execution after the Gestapo finds him with underground information -- planted on him by Hogan! "The Antique" in which Hogan convinces Klink to open a business selling "rare" cuckoo clocks, which Hogan plans to use for smuggling information. "At Last -- Schultz Knows Something" in which Hogan prods Schultz to reveal the site of a secret atomic installation that Schultz has been assigned to guard. "The Softer They Fall" in which Kinch agrees to fight a German boxing champ to divert attention from a heist that Hogan is planning. "Crittendon's Commandos" in which Crittendon and his commandos parachute into camp, but the Colonel is the only one to avoid capture and "Klink's Escape" in which Hogan gets Klink to believe he is about to bust a POW escape ring.

Guest stars this season include Sigrid Valdis, Leon Askin, Howard Caine, Nita Talbot, Bernard Fox and more!

Continuing the feel of a smaller set, the main design is similar, if not identical to the past four seasons. The logo is in the center with Hogan, Schultz and Klink on top of it and the other men underneath it. The back of the box features three color photographs along with a nice shot of the men, along with a good description of the series. The set itself is slip sleeve. There are two slip sleeve discs in the set to host the four discs. The covers for the slip sleeve discs no longer have different art; it's the same as the main box art.

There are two discs per case, so four discs in all. The discs themselves also no longer contain art, it's a simple background, which you can see on the main art, where the four men are featured. Disc 1 is brown in color and contains episodes 1-7. Disc 2 is blue in color and contains episodes 8-14. Disc 3 is a dirty yellow in color and contains episode 15-20 while Disc 4 is green in color and contains episodes 21-26.

Menu Design and Navigation:

The main menu is similar to that of Season 3 in which it appears like gates are opening. When they open you can see a list of the episodes, plus a Play All feature. It is very simple and easy to use. On top of the episodes list are video clips of the series. The sound of drums, like marching, is playing.

Video and Audio Quality:

The video itself is definitely re-mastered. Crisp colors, although there is an occasional bit of dust and debris, which is to be expected -- no set is perfect! The audio is fine, and nothing to be worried about. There are chapter skips located on each episode and again, each episode appears to be uncut in length ranging around 25 minutes or more.

Special Features:

Once again, there aren't any special features, which is a huge bummer! What happened to the amazing array of bonus features that were found on the earlier seasons? We’ll have to call the gang at Stalag 13 to complain about CBS/Paramount not giving any extras on the last few sets!

Final Comments:

Well, one more season to go after this! I personally feel that CBS/Paramount got lazy on this set. No longer is there different art on the slip sleeve cases, but there isn't any on the discs, either! It makes for a very generic feeling set. And on the other hand, there aren't any bonus features! Again! What is going on? I hope we get a ton for the next set, which will be the sixth and final season...just 24 episodes left! I hope we have it by early the latest by March or April.

Besides the gripes, at least the episodes are re-mastered and uncut, that should appease most die-hard fans. I do of course suggest picking this up. Despite the changes, and lack of bonus features, enjoy the set with the great episodes itself!

Final Numbers (out of 5 stars - How our point system works)

Video Quality: 4.5/5
Audio Quality: 4.5/5
Special Features: 0/5
Menu Navigation/Design: 4.5/5
Overall: 4/5
