Mallory's Pushed To April

A planned reunion mini-series for "Mallory's of Jefferson County" (the most popular show in Gen-TV history) has been pushed from a planned February launch to April. Fans were eagerly anticipating the scheduled February 11th premiere of the six-part limited series, but were confused as to what happened when February 11th came and went without it airing.

Gen-TV representatives cited "scheduling conflicts" as the reason why the premiere was delayed and confirmed to Hollywood Insider "We have moved the launch of this incredible and epic limited series event to April so that the final several episodes will air within the May sweeps period." "And believe me it is going to be worth the wait, as the producers have cooked up an absolutely unbelievable story that will leave everybody shaken to their cores."

Gen-TV is going to announcing their full April 2020 schedule within the next few weeks and "Mallory's" is likely to be mentioned heavily during that announcement.
Gen-TV News:

--Pandemic Pushes "Mallory's" to 2021

The 2020 pandemic is claiming another victim, a planned reunion mini-series of "Mallory's of Jefferson County" which was intended to air in April is now being pushed back "until at least early 2021" for the network to "give the proper attention and marketing to this A-List franchise."

Discussions about continuing to air the series anyway were held briefly but were ultimately abandoned in favor of pushing it back until next year when things return to normal.

This is the second time it was pushed back, originally intended to air in February it was moved to April because of scheduling concerns and is now being moved for a second time. All of the planned episodes have already been filmed and were in the process of post-production editing with Gen-TV sources saying those episodes were "about 75% finished but in the middle of extensive sound and music edits."

THE HOLLYWOOD INSIDER

YTN ADDS THREE "YTN PRESENTS:" SPECIALS TO THURSDAYS
In the midst of losing its Thursday comedy block due to COVID-19 related shut-downs, YTN is filling the next three Thursdays with various specials looking back at iconic moments throughout the networks ten-plus year existence.

Beginning tonight, the network will air YTN Presents: The Funniest Sitcom Moments in Network History, from 8pm to 11pm. The three hour special will delve through various funny moments in YTN sitcoms. It will countdown 30 moments, with 10 airing per hour, all leading up to the funniest moment in network history. YTN confirmed sitcoms that previously aired on now-defunct TCN and its streaming service will also appear in the special.

The next two weeks will use the same three hour format, counting down the 30 best moments. Next Thursdays special, YTN Presents: The Most Heart-Breaking Moments in Network History, will feature moments that are mostly from their large slate of dramas. The network confirmed a few comedies will make an appearance. Airing on Thursday, May 6th is YTN Presents: The Craziest Reality Moments in Network History, which will feature the best moments from their reality series.

YTN confirmed they are working on additional specials throughout the summer, and will reveal their summer schedule in the coming days. Thanks to its massive contract with GEN-TV, many of the series in that deal have already filmed an entire season before production shutdown.

Insiders tell us the network does not currently have a slate of series ready to go for fall, and is hoping to start production as soon as it is safe to begin again. With many states shutting down television and movie filming for the foreseeable future, YTN (and other networks) will likely have a very different schedule come this fall.

Gen-TV Pick Ups
--Network Orders 11 To Series

Gen-TV Network may still be about a month away from officially announcing their 2020-2021 schedule; but they have been busy getting it ready. They have confirmed today that they've ordered eleven programs to series for next season. This order is comprised of five comedies and six dramas.

The full details are below:

COMEDY:

Although comedy development was considered a low priority for next season, this changed dramatically as the COVID-19 pandemic shut-down most of the modern world and abruptly ended production on all Gen-TV series. "Suddenly, the thought of not providing our viewers with reasons to laugh felt very wrong and we had to immediately adjust our goals." So, the network started the search for new comedy pilots, and has come to order the following five to series:

"Going For Broke": a spin-off of "Ready To Wear" set inside a mall/casino that is struggling to survive in a new economic climate. It follows the daily interactions and lives of its eccentric staff. The concept will be introduced in an episode of "Ready To Wear" early into the new season and is being written to allow crossovers from "Ready To Wear" on the regular.

"Hooking Up": a ensemble comedy following a group of 20-somethings as they embark on a suddenly uncertain post-college future and try to find career, love and friendships in a completely different landscape than they imagined they'd be in.

"Raised By Wolves": A family-comedy about a 15 year old foster son who gets adopted by a new family; the eccentric Wolf family of Long Island, New York.

"Dr. Love": A psychiatrist who hosts a TV talk show focused on relationships called "Dr. Love" finds himself at a crossroads as he realizes for the first time that he's nearly 40; single and has never had a successful relationship in his life.

"Moving On": A long in the works spin-off of "Making It Work" featuring a completely top-secret cast and premise which Gen-TV will announce at UpFronts when they take place in June (most likely virtually).

DRAMA:

"Descent": This conspiracy drama follows a ever evolving mystery that takes place when several passengers on board a domestic flight from Cleveland to Orlando completely vanish into thin air during the flight.

"5150": This new drama focuses on the life of a New York attorney and author who gets the story of his lifetime when he attempts to find out once and for all why his wife, a nurse was killed inside a Manhattan psychiatric hospital by checking into the hospital himself undercover to find out who is responsible

"Biological": From the creators of Gen-TV's "Sisters" comes "Biological" a new drama focused on four strangers who discover they are family after taking an at-home DNA test and unknowingly uncover decades of secrets, including a decades old conspiracy involving the hospital they were born in.

"Before & After": This brand new anthology program features a different family every season and showcases them in two distinct periods of time; "The Before" and "The After"; as in just before and just after a life-altering event. The first season follows the fictional Miller family directly before the 9/11 in 2001 and directly after the 2008 stock market/subprime mortgage crisis.

"Active Threat": A brand new crime drama focused on a specialized FBI team tasked with handling the most high-octane, dangerous and active threats in the country; from crazed gunmen to hostages situations and everything in-between.

"Snitches": This new drama focuses on three criminals turned FBI informants as they attempt to hide the fact that they've become snitches and have talked to law enforcement.

THE HOLLYWOOD INSIDER
YTN ADDS "YTN ORIGINAL MOVIE NIGHT" TO THURSDAYS
On the heels of CBS and ABC adding movies back to their schedule thanks to lack of programming from COVID-19, YTN is doing the same.

In the earlier years of the network, YTN produced a handful of original movies, which will be shown for the first time in nearly six years. Besides movies of YTN original series, all the other movies have not been available anywhere - including the YTN streaming service, YTN Everywhere.

The bench of movies is deep enough, that YTN will program Thursday nights with a movie through late August. Since all of the movies were aired in two hour timeslots in the past, they will air from 8-10, with a repeat of TAKEN airing at 10 o'clock.

Here is the schedule of movies:
May 14th - The End of the World
May 21st - Dinosaurs in New York City
May 28th - The Titan
June 4th - Horror House
June 11th - Love Stranger
June 18th - Six
June 25th - They Are Out There
July 2nd - Reversing History (part one)
July 9th - Reversing History (part two)
July 16th - Pushing Daisies
July 23rd - Sleeping with the Killer
July 30th - Murder in the Yard
August 6th - Desperation Move
August 13th - The Couple Not Seen
August 20th - Darkness Beneath
August 27th - Alone with the Stranger

THE HOLLYWOOD INSIDER

YTN ADDS "BLAST FROM THE PAST" SPECIAL TO TUESDAY NIGHTS
With COVID-19 continuing to effect network schedules, YTN is adding another experiment to its schedule. Beginning Tuesday, June 2nd, the network will open its comedy archives and air episodes of YTN comedies that have been off the air for the last few years. The network is letting viewers choose which episodes of each comedy will air through social media platforms.

Dubbed "Blast from the Past", YTN will air four episodes of a different comedy each week from 9pm to 11pm. During breaks throughout the two hours, stars of the ended comedy will share memories from their time on the show. All of the memories will film using online video sharing.

YTN will start "Blast from the Past" with Roommates, which aired one season on ABC Family, before jumping to YTN after its cancellation. It was one of the first sitcoms to air on YTN and repeats have aired sparingly on YTN since it ended.

Here are the other comedies set to air:
June 2nd - Roommates
June 9th - Living Life
June 16th - Singles
June 23rd - Five of Us/CHELSEA
June 30th - Kate and Zoe
July 7th - College
July 14th - Friends of Mine
July 21st - The Life of Gary
July 28th - Being Average
August 4th - Blue Collar
August 11th - Suburbia
August 18th - Raising Teenagers
August 25th - Heart of America
September 1st - Sisterhood
September 8th - Growing up at 30
September 15th - Family Business
September 22nd - Behind the Scenes

A handful of YTN comedies will not be featured during the special, including all current sitcoms, as well as They Work Hard for their Money, Three Bitches, Marriage by Default, The New Life, Under One Roof, My Immature Brother, Therapy, and Burgers and Fries. All those episodes remain on YTN Everywhere.

This is a change from the previous schedule, which had Blended airing into late June and Extended Family airing at 930, beginning next week. Blended will air two episodes per week, for two weeks, ending with its 20th episode as the finale. Extended Family will return at a later date. The 10 o'clock hour was already filled with various repeats, but will revert to airing the comedy block.

Default Gen-TV Fall News

Gen-TV News:
Fall TV Tidbits and Rumors

With much of next seasons TV broadcasting schedule still up in the air, Gen-TV is still forging ahead with plans to release its plans for its Fall 2020 schedule. The network confirms that they will be unveiling the schedule later this week. But before we get to that there are some rumors and tidbits of information that have been leaked about what will and will no be on that schedule.

"New Sitcoms":

Gen-TV is looking likely to be launching several new sitcoms on the fall as they recently placed orders for five new sitcoms. Sources inside Gen-TV inform Hollywood Insider that the sitcoms most likely to be present on the schedule are "Going for Broke" because of the "Read To Wear" connection and "Raised By Wolves" which sources describe as "the funniest pilot Gen-TV has ever had."

"Old Sitcoms On The Bench":

Gen-TV also has a slew of old sitcoms still on the schedule; including "Cafe Oddity", "Ready To Wear", "Kate & Ali", "Baker's Dozen" and several more; so it seems likely that some of these comedies will be sitting on the bench and held over until 2021. Our bets are on "Unemployed", "Grounded" or "The Boss Lady", three series typically reserved for utility player status. We'll see how it pans out but sources tell us that "Grounded" is unlikely to be present on the fall schedule and that 'Our Pet Dragon" could be held-over until next year because Gen-TV has no other shows like it that they can pair with it.
