Sunday, February 9:

Gen-TV has some problems on Sunday nights, but "Baker's Dozen" is not one of them. The sophomore sitcom continues its impressive reign with a 15% growth week to week in demos. "Roomies" is solid week to week, losing only 2.5% in demos. "Making It Work" continues to impress in its final batch of episodes, posting a solid week to week demo. "Served" is a big issue for Gen-TV as the freshmen comedy (which has already been cancelled) posted significant losses with a .91 in demos. "American Heroes" lost viewers as well, with a 4.1 in demos.

8pm: Making It Work (New): 18.2 million/12.8 (12.38) 18-49

830: Roomies (New): 16.7 million/6.5 (6.56) 18-49

Gen-TV's otherwise solid Monday night had only one issue and that was "Unemployed" continuing to drop unexpectedly in demos. The show posted a 1.1 in demos this week (down from 2.4) a week ago. All other shows were solid, with "Grand Jury" even showing marginal growth in demos.

8pm: Stuck In The Middle (New): 12.6 million/4.3 (4.35) 18-49

830: Unemployed (New): 10.1 million/1.1 (1.13) 18-49

Gen-TV's strong comedy lineup were all winners this week with "Cafe Oddity" just slightly edging out "Bless Your Heart" for the #1 slot this week. Both shows were up week to week in demos. "The Boss Lady" and "Every Other Weekend" were also up in demos. "Celebrity Cooking Battles" was solid week to week.

Default Gen-TV, Stream-ME Pulls Series

Breaking Report:
---Gen-TV Cautiously Pulls Series

Out of an abundance of sensitivity Gen-TV is pulling episodes of the short-lived 2015 drama "Pathogen" from its streaming series Stream-Me. The drama has a plotline eerily similar to the current coronavirus crisis that is sweeping the world right now and the studio felt "It would be incredibly insensitive to allow those episode to continue streaming at this time."

The studio is also pulling several other titles from the service that have similar plotlines. The decision is being made "out of an abundance of caution and complete sensitivity."

Default Three Gen-TV Executives Have Virus

Gen-TV News:
--Three Execs Have Coronavirus

Three well known Gen-TV Executives have tested positive for the coronavirus. Ross Chin, currently the President of Gen-TV's Board of Directors has test positive for COVID-19 and says he was exposed to the virus through "community spread within Gen-TV." He has been hospitalized and is in isolation in a Los Angeles hospital for the next "14-20 days" said a source close to the situation. Chin tells Hollywood Now "I am physically doing well and display only minimal symptoms but am being isolated out of extreme caution."

The second Gen-TV Executive to test positive for the virus is in a much more serious situation, Dylan Garretson currently the Executive Secretary for Gen-TV's board of directors is hospitalized in New York in "grave and serious condition" after "growing extremely ill on March 23." "He was rushed to hospital in NY and immediately tested positive for the virus." "He remains in critical condition and is being treated."

A third Gen-TV Executive, Travis Malwell Irons has tested positive for the virus as well and is in self-isolation in his Los Angeles home. He claims to have been exposed to the virus through a family member he had recently visited with.

As a result Gen-TV has officially suspended all "in-person board business and meetings until further notice." "Board members may work from home via video chat and email but the board of directors offices and arena are closed until further notice."

Gen-TV News:
2020 Season Officially Over

Gen-TV Studios has confirmed what many feared would be the case. At least for them, the 2019-2020 TV season is now officially over. Due to the complete shutdown of Hollywood (and most of the US) because of the coronavirus pandemic, all episodes from the current season that have not aired will be rolled into next season and the current season is now officially closed.

Gen-TV's President Margo Danbury explains "We feel that due to the sensitive and dangerous nature of the pandemic it is best to just scrap the rest of the season, keep production closed and roll completed episodes into the new season." "Most of our series will only have between 1-3 episodes left to roll over anyway." "This is a simple and easy way to continue episode counts and keep track of what season each show is on."

Now, as for series that will not be renewed and have episodes remaining, for example "Boston Blues", the remaining episodes of those shows will air on Stream-Me sometime this summer.

For the record, Gen-TV is confirming the following series are now considered officially cancelled and will not be returning next season (* means series has episodes left to air):

Boston Blues *
Served*
American Heroes*
Making It Work *
Every Other Weekend *
The Truth about Birth: Stories of Motherhood*
Zendaya
Maria's Quinceanera
If Hillary Had Won
American Loser
American Citizen
Ms. Belvedere
Hart of Family
Unlikely Family
Medical Center*

Default Gen-TV 2020-2021 News

Breaking News:
Gen-TV Renews Bubble Series

Due to the 2020 Coronavirus Pandemic shutting down not only Hollywood but most of the USA, Gen-TV has had to make some unusual calls when it comes to finalizing details of its 2020-2021 TV season. This means renewing series that would typically be cancelled and greenlighting far fewer new series than normal due to having to cut short most of its pilot season.

That said, Gen-TV has made those tough calls and has renewed some marginal performers for additional seasons. Freshmen comedies "Stuck in The Middle" and "Roomies" will both return for second seasons, despite marginal ratings. "Unemployed" will see a fourth season despite horrifically dropping to series lows this year. Also seeing an unexpected renewal is "Grounded" which will see a fourth season.

It is expected that the majority of Gen-TV's current programming will be renewed in some form. Many shows that were scheduled to air in April were delayed due to the pandemic and will be likely rolled over until next season; examples include "Degree of Guilt" which and the "High School Diaries" franchise.

Default Blues Still Dead

Gen-TV has announced two huge pieces of news today, the first is sad news. Gen-TV has officially cancelled "Boston Blues", the sophomore police drama lost nearly 70% of its audience season-to-season and despite a small rebound in the last three months it was simply "too little, too late" said Gen-TV Vice President Amy Fung-Wilson. "Season two will be the final season of Boston Blues" she announced "It has been cancelled and will not be returning next season."

Debuting in 2018 with a cast that included James Van Der Beek and Poppy Montgomery, the series was an instant smash and won numerous awards that season. However ratings for the series were down at the start of season two and despite some rebound, it wasn't enough to save the show.

Now, for other more positive news Gen-TV is officially confirming the buzzy news that beloved daytime soap opera "Promise of Tomorrow" will return to Gen-TV in 2020! The popular daytime soap aired on Gen-TV from 2014 through 2016 and produced over three thousand episodes and won the Harper Everett Award (what is now the Best of TV Award) every year it was on. It also won the Daytime Emmy for Best Drama Series every year it was on. The series was a instant success, becoming the first daytime soap in history to knock "Young & Restless" out of the #1 spot and was a solid success. However, the exit of creator Maria Arena Bell from the show in 2016 resulted in unpopular storylines and the loss of key characters. Viewers tuned out in droves and the show was cancelled in 2016.

Gen-TV President Margo Danbury said "Since it left the air we have been getting thousand upon thousand of letters, emails and social media messages begging us to bring back Promise of Tomorrow and we've decided now is the right time." "It is the only soap opera we've ever aired that became a cultural success and impacted viewers lives in a big way." "We are proud to announce the return of Promise of Tomorrow for Fall 2020!"

Details about casting haven't been announced just yet nor is there any word on if creator Maria Arena Bell will return or not.
Gen-TV News:
--Boston Blues Dead

Despite rumors that the Hollywood shutdown due to the coronavirus might save "Boston Blues", Gen-TV Executives confirmed today that "despite the current situation in the world it doesn't change the fate of Boston Blues." "The series is still cancelled and will not be returning in any capacity on Gen-TV next season."

The police drama, once a star player for Gen-TV saw ratings fall over 70% between its first and second season and was cancelled on March 3rd, just before the full impact of the pandemic hit the United States.

Default Atlanta Medical News

Atlanta Medical News:
-Season 2 Casting Changes

Gen-TV's hit medical drama "Atlanta Medical" is undergoing a small overhaul for its second season (launching in May). The biggest change is the exit of Priyanka Chopra after one season. Chopra who cites her "demanding and hectic schedule" as the reason for her departure will be replaced by Eva Longoria who joins the cast as a brand new medical director who "hails from Miami and has a flare for the dramatics, but provides an even, level-head when it comes to times of crisis", and given that the series timeline picks up right in the heat of the 2020 pandemic "her character, Veronica is immediately tested as she must make high octane decisions from her very first second at the hospital."

Also joining the cast this season are Michael Weston who plays, a new surgeon who joins the Atlanta Medical team when he is consulted on a very delicate pediatric cardiac surgery case. Weston himself is no stranger to medical dramas, as he's had recurring roles on three well known shows in the genre. Last season he played the main villain on Fox's "The Resident", and more than a decade ago he had recurring roles on Fox's "House M.D." and NBC's "Scrubs."

He is joined by three other new cast members, Sal Stowers (aka Saleisha Stowers) a former winner of "America's Next Top Model" who has had roles on soap operas "Days of our Lives" and "All My Children" and has guest starred on "The Fosters" and "Major Crimes." She will play a charge nurse asked to head the hospital's pandemic response team, who is also dealing with a personal crisis of her own. Former "Quantico" star Johanna Braddy will join the series in a recurring role, as will her former "Quantico" co-star and former "Glee" alumni Jacob Artist joins the cast as a first year surgical intern who shares a secret past with one of the hospitals attending physicians. Braddy will play a second-year intern at the hospital.

Returning to the cast from last season are Sanaa Lathan, Kirk Acevedo, Rick Gonzalez, Jay Hernandez and Josh Segarra. Colton Haynes also returns in a limited capacity, and has been downgraded from a series regular to recurring status.

THE HOLLYWOOD INSIDER

YTN OFFICIALLY CANCELS "AVA AND LIAM" AND "BETTER DAYS"
Not a real surprise here, but YTN has officially pulled the plug on freshman series, Ava and Liam, and Better Days. The move comes as YTN tries to implement plans in a post-COVID-19 world.

Ava and Liam averaged a .76 A18-49 in two episodes before it was pulled from the schedule back in October. YTN filmed all 26 episodes, and will air the remaining episodes as part of its summer schedule. The series wrapped production in January, and YTN decided to make the decision to not go back after COVID-19. There were some discussions of keeping the cast signed to see how the show performed this summer, but those talks quickly fell apart. It will air in a TBA timeslot throughout most of the summer.

The same goes for Better Days, which averaged .51 A18-49 in five episodes before being yanked from the schedule earlier this year. It filmed 12 of the 13 episodes, and production shut down as the final episode was filming. Production will not resume to finish the episode. YTN will air the remaining 7 episodes of Better Days this summer.

UPDATE ON "VIRUS"
YTN provided an update for its number one series, Virus, which follows a group of individuals as a pandemic kills millions across the globe.

The network confirmed the series will return at some point, and a renewal is coming in the next few weeks. YTN's President said the series would likely be delayed, so as to "Not take away focus from the real pandemic in the world." He went on to say, "This is our biggest series, but it does not feel right to bring it back as millions lose their loved ones because of COVID-19. We really expect it to be delayed up to a year."

In the announcement, YTN also confirmed the Virus spinoff would not move forward. The network was expected to debut the new series in January 2021, but has cancelled all those plans. YTN's President says, "Again, we think its just not the right time to debut a series about a pandemic. We will likely look at it again in the future, maybe two years down the road, but not right now. Absolutely not."
