Exactly! No one should give a flying fig about if an older show is relevant today, and stop trying to remake shows with a politically correct angle. And for topical references, US residents should at least remember who the presidents before their time are from their history classes.

No one knows or should have to know who Tip O'Neill, Bob Dole and Newt Gingrich were or what "1000 points of light" were all about, yet they have to in order to appreciate Murphy Brown. That's the problem with the show. Most of the references will fly completely over the heads of young viewers, because they reference a political landscape that no longer exist and hasn't in 30 years.

It's not important what the young viewers think.

It's those who watched it originally is what matters.

It's important to TV programmers and station managers, who aren't going to waste time running a show nobody under the age of 40 will watch because they can't understand it.

Regarding the list of shows that haven't been anywhere in ten years or more,

Additions (?) to the list
Kate And Allie 1984-89 (last seen in 2009?)
Just Shoot Me 1997-2003 (last seen in 2010 on WGN America?)
My Name Is Earl 2005-09 (last seen in 2009?)

Subtractions from the list
Girlfriends (see earlier post in this thread)

and you can also subtract The John Larroquette Show, when it begins airing on the new Rewind channel in 2022.

An addition to the list that became a subtraction
Everybody Hates Chris 2005-09 (apparently had not been seen since it aired on Nickelodeon in 2009, but the show is now running on the Fuse channel)

MY NAME IS EARL was on TBS for a brief time in 2012; I know because that was the year I had a stroke and I remember watching it in the hospital

Further research revealed that TBS showed My Name Is Earl until September 2014, so it doesn't belong on the list until at least September 2024.

Subtract Suddenly Susan from the list as well, because that's also coming to Rewind channel.

Regarding the list of shows that haven't been anywhere in ten years or more,
revisions (?) to the revision:

Additions (?) to the list
Kate And Allie 1984-89 (last seen on RTV in 2009?)
Just Shoot Me 1997-2003 (last seen in 2010 on WGN America?)
Veronica's Closet 1997-2000 (see below)
Hope & Faith 2003-06 (last seen in 2010 on WE TV?)

Subtractions from the list
Girlfriends (see earlier post in this thread)

and you can also subtract both The John Larroquette Show and Suddenly Susan (ran 1996-2000), when it begins airing on the new Rewind channel in 2022 (Suddenly Susan and Veronica's Closet apparently were last seen on TV Land in 2010).

An addition to the list that became a subtraction
Everybody Hates Chris 2005-09 (apparently had not been seen since it aired on Nickelodeon in 2009, but the show is now running on the Fuse channel)

Most of those shows are either on MeTV or Antenna TV.
