Roseanne executive producer recalls the "shock" of learning of cancelation on the first day working on Season 2
Dave Caplan says "there was a lot of bittersweet hellos — and a couple hours later, a lot of very difficult goodbyes." He says the writing staff first learned about the cancelation via the media. "Everybody is still in shock at how quickly this all went down," he says. "It's unfortunate because the writers did pass on other jobs to take this job and nobody really knows yet what kind of compensation they're going to get. Everybody is a little bit on edge about how it's going to turn out. But we all know it's a wasted opportunity to write more episodes."

How often do you send successful shows down the drain? This is Executive decisions? Roseanne can easily be replaced with someone such as Melissa McCarthy for instance. If worried about the stigma of the Show name "Roseeanne", change the name. The rest of the shows plot is intact. If I was a Show "Excutive" I would take the chance. I wonder how many show viewers would like to see some one such as Melissa in that role. Excutives?
It wasn't show executives, it was the network and its parent company Disney.

My question would be if any of the other actors and staff have grounds for a lawsuit against Roseanne Barr. This is 1000 percent her fault. The show was a smash hit, and cost all the actors on the show literal millions if not tens of millions of dollars especially Melissa Gilbert (who I think had a piece of the show) and John Goodman (who is older now and not getting roles like he used to).

If I were one of the actors, I would sue Barr. Probably wouldn't succeed since ABC pulled the show and Barr has a First Amendment right. But she is negligent and should pay.

Sara Gilbert. Melissa is her sister who starred in Little House on the Prairie.

I don't know how this works, but will Roseanne Barr still get money if they continue the show without her?

Would they have to change the name to "The Conners" or something like that and not call it "Roseanne"?

It would be much more of a kick in the ass to Roseanne if the network killed off her character and continued the show without her, renaming it "The Conners" which was done with Valerie Harper's show back in the day when they renamed "Valerie" as "The Hogan Family."

From what I've seen (no links, just stuff I've come across here and there), Roseanne Barr would still benefit greatly monetarily from the continuation of the show even without her.

Looks like Roseanne is now officially gone from the channel guide.

OK, here's a story that says she would benefit financially

I'll miss everybody but her. Good Riddance!!! By the way, isn't she Jewish herself? That's sick to make fun of Hitler.

The writer referred to them as The Bonners twice. I guess they need a new editor

I would still watch a spin-off, and I think they should do it sans-Roseanne.

If there was a lawsuit of any kind I seriously doubt John Goodman would get involved. His movie career has done all right and I'm sure he's made lots of money from that and isn't in any danger of ending up in the poor house LOL.
