As for the main four, my list goes:
  1. Blair
  2. Jo
  3. Tootie
  4. Natalie

I know the Nancy fanatics from years ago consider her the star of the show, but when rewatching the series it's very obvious Lisa is the star of the main 4. Blair had the most interactions with the girls and had just as many episodes each season centered on her. Out of all the girls, Blair is the only one this show could not do without. The only reason the character of Jo worked for fans is because of Blair. Blair brought out Jo's spunk a lot. There's noway Jo would have had the same success with fans if it wasn't for Blair to bounce off of. I also think Blair helped Jo grow a lot as the series went on.
Many people would disagree with your assessment of Molly Ringwald as an actress since she is the wealthiest and had the most successful career of the main 8 Eastland girls.

That's an interesting point and so true. I never thought of it that way, but the character of Jo does owe a lot to Blair. I think the same could fairly be true for Blair as well though.
Before Jo came, Blair still was pretty much the star girl out of them all, but very shallow and snobby. Jo's presence showed us what was underneath that shallow facade. So both characters pretty much fed off each other.

I like how most people have Blair as their #1 favorite in the poll!

I'm eagerly waiting to see if someone dares to choose this one though:

I don't really care for any of them

I remember when she was all over the place in the mid 80's and I honestly wondered why. She had zero appeal to me and seemed to play the same character in her films. Then once the 80's finished, she disappeared into oblivion. I have a vague recollection of a short sitcom she tried, I think it was early 90's? But that bombed and she disappeared again.

I'm not saying she's a terrible actress....I mean, she's no Madonna lol. But she isn't exactly Bette Davis either.

Molly Ringwald has been in two successful series since 2008. The Secret Life of an American Teenager and Riverdale. None of the other child actors from Facts of Life can say that.

Well, just of note, when I was a child first watching the syndicated daily re-runs of the classic era, my favorite was Tootie all the way! She was the youngest of the group, just like me! (me being the youngest in my family, I mean) So my order of favorites was TOOTIE (then-everybody-else)

But now, as a grown contributing member of society, lol, my favorite of the Core Four is the ever-so-funny Blair, followed by Tootie, and then I guess Jo then Natalie. I do enjoy Natalie, but sometimes I can find her kind of obnoxious, and sometimes she seems more "distant" from the group than the others. I rank Jo a slot above because her "streets-to-school" story is quite interesting, and I do like how she (begrudgingly, lol) finds herself a part of this close-knit group, and rebuilds a relationship with her father. I don't, however, like when she gets too "high on her horse" or becomes unreasonable.

You think those things get old, wait'll you binge the series sometime---by season 3 you are getting tired of seeing her Bronx ponytail and Natalie's extra long pigtails all the damn time. At least by season 5 they FINALLY change Natalie's hair, but they STILL have that dang horse tail on Jo!

Hey Blair's #1 for me too! More "Blair Buddies"!

Oh, not only that, we voted the same for all 4!

If they had just softened Jo up after her first season I would've ranked her higher. After season 2, the tomboy tough act should've been put on the back burner and we should've seen how Eastland and the other girls were helping Jo's character evolve by then.
She spent too many seasons scowling and snapping at everyone, and that godforsaken horse tail should've been taken away in season 3. She has a pretty face that looks much softer framed by her hair and with some makeup on to enhance her features.
Making Jo as manly as they could did nothing good for poor Nancy M. I wonder if she finally got sick of it too and asked them to make her more feminine. I mean, that army outfit she wore in many episodes.

I really like Natalie's hair in season 6. It's much more mature over those damn pigtails. Tootie losing her bowl cut was a major step up for her, and lifting the hair off the front of her face was a good choice. Her face is really pretty and she looks so much better with her hair more away from her face.

And i'm glad someone else picked the same order as me!

I'm not bashing her but just giving the impression I had her during her height of fame back in the 80's. If she's found newfound success in her middle age, that's great. I haven't seen either of those shows so I can't make an opinion of it. I can only share my view of her from when she first came on the scene.

I'm sure she's improved a lot since then. I just personally never found her appealing. I don't know....she just comes off to me as being very distant and unapproachable.

She hasn't improved at all. She's like a wooden stick with her acting. She's on a low rated series right now called Riverdale as Archie's mom. When Luke Perry died, I was expecting her to shed tears over his death like the rest of the cast. It was almost like she was forcing them out. I don't get the appeal over her either. And just because she starred in big screen movies doesn't mean she's a better actress. Look at all those people who are YouTube stars and make a money off social media. I wouldn't consider them better performers if they had more money than TV stars.

I find her cute and spunky. But we know we disagree a lot.

Ouch! Well, I wasn't happy that any of them got "let go". I wish it could have been 9 seasons of 8 girls.

Yup, I was just thinking, boy, if this poll had been here 20 years ago, the results would sure be different!

And Jo, Blair. That's why "New York, New York" is such a touching episode. A real highlight.

Well, you never know---someone may have preferred all 4 Lost Girls and thought the show tanked after season 1 (I've seen comments like that before).

Really? They're quite different. Samantha is a suburban sardonic, Clair is a spoiled entitled princess with attitude, and Andie is a sensitive girl from a low-income neighborhood with a guy bestie.

Yes! The exact quote is, "Why are ya always sayin', 'Girls, girls!' ? Do ya see Molly Ringwald sittin' here?!"

I wonder what our Molly thought of that line! I bet friends and family were calling her 1980s landline curly-corded telephone telling her she was just celebrated as a mention on GG!

Well, and just looking at her 1980s status alone with how hugely successful was in that decade.

Woah, is that a real GG quote!?

If so, it's perfect for this discussion!

Ladies and gentlemen, i have to say that i am VERY VERY happy to see a board where BLAIR finally gets picked as number 1!
Back in the 00 s until 2010 or 12 all i could see plastered was JO's name all over with her huge amount of fans!
Wow! Things have really changed lol!

Wow! You have truly spoken from my heart Christopher!

I'm very happy to finally see BLAIR getting the credit as well as being a number 1: back in the 00's until 2010, JO got all the credit and most stories on the Fanfiction site were written for her (except the ones i post), all the fans were all over the moon for the 'Bronx girl' and even referred to BLAIR as the 'shallow' or 'bad guy' in few of the stories and it really angered me!

And yes: both BLAIR and JO learned a lot from each other and complemented very well!
The show would definitely have not been the same without BLAIR, who made her dynamic entrance right from the beginning, on the pilot 'The girls school'!
