Default Brooklyn Nine-Nine canceled after five seasons

http://tvline.com/2018/05/10/brookly...-season-6-fox/

The Golden Globe-winning comedy will air its series finale on May 20, capping off a 112-episode run. Brooklyn Nine-Nine started strong in 2013, winning two Golden Globe Awards in its first season, one for Andy Samberg and one for best TV series, comedy or musical. But it has been struggling in the ratings this season. Sunday's episode was watched by just 1.7 million viewers. Co-creator Dan Goor said recently that the Season 5 finale will leave fans satisfied should the comedy be canceled.

In hindsight, we should've had an inkling that Fox was going to inevitably do this when they put it on hiatus to premier LA to Vegas. During virtually B99's entire run, Fox seemed to move it around too much (from Tuesday to Sunday and back again) and relegated it long and multiple hiatuses (such as fall finales, winter finales, breaks for sports, pulled for other shows). It's nonsense like this that makes the shows lose momentum. It can be hard to keep up with a show when they do all that, and sometimes it makes people lose interest.

That's a shame, it was a pretty funny show.

Hulu is the most likely landing spot for Brooklyn Nine-Nine, but don't count out NBC
According to Michael Schneider, Hulu is the No. 1 potential savior, followed by NBC, TBS and Netflix in that order. NBC, he says, is intriguing because "Universal TV owns Brooklyn Nine-Nine, and if it’s worth making more seasons for that Hulu backend cash, then perhaps there’s room on the Peacock’s schedule. The show would fit nice with (Brooklyn Nine-Nine co-creator Michael) Schur’s other series on NBC, The Good Place and new comedy Abby’s, and its tone is right in place with workplace comedy Superstore. And with no Thursday Night Football next year, NBC has a bit more room on its shelf."

What it's like to be a diehard fan of The Mick as everybody else mourns Brooklyn Nine-Nine
There was "no love for The Mick in my timeline," says Brett White, who adds: "The Mick deserves better than this because it has, hands down, the best comedic lead on any show on any network right now. Kaitlin Olson is a five-alarm fire and a Category 5 hurricane all in one, a comedian with such absolute control over her delivery and physicality that every twitch and devastating pratfall seems dangerous."

Hulu and Netflix pass on saving Brooklyn Nine-Nine, and TBS is considered a "longshot"

According to Variety and The Hollywood Reporter both Hulu and Netflix have passed on reviving the canceled Fox series. Hulu was considered the most likely savior for the canceled Fox comedy since the streaming service already aired the comedy's reruns. Variety reports: "Hulu and Universal Television had been in talks to continue the show after the conclusion of the fifth season, much like they did for The Mindy Project.” There had also been rumors that TBS or Netflix could continue the show as well, but Netflix has passed and TBS is a longshot, sources say."

Terry Crews isn't mad about Brooklyn Nine-Nine's cancelation, says he'd be up for a revival on another network
"I'm super proud of all we've done and if by some incarnation we can come back in some kind of way -- another network or something -- I'm jumping at the chance, but as it stands right now, we are gone, and I'm not mad," Crews said today.

NBC saves Brooklyn Nine-Nine

NBC has officially picked up Brooklyn Nine-Nine Friday night for a 13-episode Season 6. “Ever since we sold this show to Fox I’ve regretted letting it get away, and it’s high time it came back to its rightful home,” said NBC Entertainment chairman Robert Greenblatt in a statement. “Mike Schur, Dan Goor, and Andy Samberg grew up on NBC and we’re all thrilled that one of the smartest, funniest, and best cast comedies in a long time will take its place in our comedy line-up. I speak for everyone at NBC, here’s to the Nine-Nine!” Co-creator Goor tweeted: "Hey everyone, just wanted to say no big deal but....NBC JUST PICKED #BROOKLYN99 UP FOR SEASON 6!!!Thanks in no small part to you, the best fans in the history of the world!" ALSO: The Brooklyn Nine-Nine squad, including Andy Samberg, freak out on Twitter.

Fox explains its Brooklyn Nine-Nine cancelation decision
“It was based on a variety of factors,” Fox Television Group CEO Dana Walden told reporters this morning. “We love this show, those are great creators, it’s a phenomenal cast. We ordered it throughout five seasons. It’s a great length of time for a single-camera comedy. Ultimately we felt like we didn’t have the exact right place to schedule it this year. It performed best in our Sunday night lineup. We wanted to give Bob’s Burgers an opportunity to have a plum time period and really grow. It really limited the opportunities to schedule Brooklyn. With Thursday Night Football, there were two fewer hours to program. We were trying to create a more cohesive program, and scheduling Brooklyn would prevent us from promoting something new. Ultimately we decided we just didn’t have room for it and were trying we’re really happy its found a new home.”
