It definitely was tied in. Back in 1992, TBS did the "All In the Family" Family Tree along with "The Andy Griffith Show" family tree. "All in the Family" consisted of the episode when George and Weezie move to Manhattan. "The Jeffersons" featured the first ep when George wants to hire a maid for Louise. "Maude" featured the episode when Maude hires Florida Evans as her housekeeper. "Good Times" feature the episode when Maude insists on living in the Ghetto for a month so she can feel the suffering and pain that most blacks in the ghetto go through.
LOL. Let me stop. It was actually the episode when Florida vies for best kept apartment and Ned gets made over. That is the family tree.

This was back in January of 1992. I still have it on tape.
Did you ever digitize that tape?!?

I'd love to see it excerpted on YouTube.

It's been explained & handed down that way for many, many years through the current day, too. TV Guide, Parade, and all the other major magazines that deal with media & shows have at some point in time made the statement that points to GT being a spinoff of Maude.
And you know it.

LMAO, & I'm not kidding or fooling with you either. We don't have that kind of time to waste...

Heh... how about over a decade and almost 1,000 posts and we still are debating the fact that Florida Evans spun off from the Maude series into her own series, which was... wait for it...

Good Times.

But it's not like there's a 50/50 board split. There's basically one lone dissenter. Remember that game show 1 vs.100? This is it.

the only problem with that is that is would put them in the same sitcom universe so technically it would still be considered a spin-off

Two identical cousins both named Florida married to identical twin Brothers Henry and James !! That would be really cool! Kinda like a Patty Duke show remake!!
