Awesome job, CD! Very well written and informative.

I do think both boys died together unfortunately. If Tex took Clifford and changed his identity, then why didn't he ever reach out to his mother/sisters? Why not resurface after his father died? His mother died in 2006, so he had plenty of years to pop up.

Another thing is why would Tex kidnap/kill Georges when he had visitation with Clifford whenever he wanted? Would've been easier to take Clifford when he was coming home from school instead of killing another child. Not saying it's impossible, but since Clifford never resurfaced I think it's a safe bet that they died together.

I also wouldn't take Tex's rage when asked about Clifford as a sign of guilt either. He constantly picked him up and had taken pictures with him, so its obvious that he cared for his son in some capacity. If my son went missing and I was being blamed and constantly accused I would probably fly off the handle myself. His son went missing, it's not that abnormal.

Either it was a fishing accident, or they were kidnapped/murdered by the same man, hate to say.

Thanks so much Freakbook!

I do agree that we can't read much into the fact that he flew off the handle. It could have been grief just as easy as guilt.

That's why I like to write about the cases where there is no clear cut answer. That way it encourages discussion of these cases.

I just noticed that the Olean Times Herald, near where Dale Kerstetter went missing, has published an article based heavily on my blog article. The Official UM FB page even posted it. Check it out:

I just checked out your blog. It's really nice. Love the genre.

So these are all accounts of missing person who have been found later eventually? Or case was solved?

A majority of these cases are those missing who are still missing. If you look around, there's a blog she did on John Bunting, who was missing but later found. She says that she'll be doing more "missing but later found" stories in the future. It is the only case she's done that has been solved.

Thank you baumten! Well the stories of missing person's cases where the victims were found alive later are in the minority sadly but definitely open to writing about them! Jon Bunting's was a unique take as he could talk about what it was like to be "missing" for 20 years. I generally like to write about the cases that have a lot of depth and twists and turns. It's good to get some renewed attention to these cases that could still be solved.

Just posted my latest article. This wasn't featured on UM but would have made for a great segment. Interestingly, one of the relatives posted online and made it sound like some wanted to have it on UM but not all of the relatives would sign off on it.

A sad case that probably would have had a different outcome 10-15 years later.

Their car being found days after they disappeared.. In today's world, a chopper with an infrared camera would have been taken up to search for them on the mountain and likely would have detected Ted and Gary holed up in the cabin.

Just posted my newest blog entry about the disappearance of a boy from Spain that Interpol has dubbed the "strangest missing persons case in Europe".

Very few, but one happened here in my neck of the woods.. The Michele Whitaker case. She disappeared herself and was missing, thought to have been the victim of a serial killer, until she was recognized by someone in the Pacific Northwest.

I've heard rumors that she's re-established relationships with her family. but for quite some time, she preferred to remain 'missing'.

Weird.. but the first thing that comes to my mind.. He was letting the kid drive. Maybe not steer, but maybe letting him shift gears. Which would explain the erratic speeds and stopping and starting. At the end, control was lost, crash.. That all adds up except for one thing. You'd think the kid would have been found.
