"Uncle Albert / Admiral Halsey" by Paul McCartney

Incorrect lyric: "I had a cup of tea and a pot of pie."
Correct lyric: "I had a cup of tea and a butter pie."

Both lyrics are nonsensical.

In Bruce Springsteen's "Dancing in the Dark:"

Misheard: Here's a joke, some wine, hey it's on me.
Correct: There's a joke somewhere and it's on me.

A lot of people think John Fogerty is singing "There's a bathroom on the right" in Bad Moon Rising when it's actually "There's a bad moon on the rise."

"Workin' At the Car Wash Blues" by Jim Croce

Correct lyric: "Don't expect to see me with a double martini in any highbrow society news."
Incorrect lyric, which I heard when I was a kid: "Don't expect to see me when you double your feet and have my eyebrows finally glued."

Black Dog by Led Zeppelin 3rd verse

Hey, hey, baby
When you walk that way
Watch your honey drip
Can't keep away

I always thought the line was "Watch you on a trip, can't keep away"!!!

I thought I heard something about "skin and stone" in that song, but I was mistaken.

Here is the whole song ( I never knew the last line was a big legged woman ain't got no soul)!

Black Dog

Song by Led Zeppelin

Hey, hey, mama
Said the way you move
Gonna make you sweat
Gonna make you groove

Oh, oh, child
Way you shake that thing
Gonna make you burn
Gonna make you sting

Hey, hey, baby
When you walk that way
Watch your honey drip
Can't keep away

Oh yeah, oh yeah
Ah, ah, ah
Oh yeah, oh yeah
Ah, ah, ah

I gotta roll, can't stand still
Got a flame in heart, can't get my fill
Eyes that shine burning red
Dreams of you all through my head

Hey, baby, oh, baby, pretty baby
Tell me what you do me now
Hey, baby, oh, baby, pretty baby
Tell me what you do me now

Didn't take too long before I found out
What people mean, my down and out
Spent my money, took my car
Started telling her friends she gonna be a star
I don't know, but I've been told
A big legged woman ain't got no soul

Oh yeah,

From the pretty religious song that was popular in 1970

Put your hand in the hand of the man who stilled the water, put your hand in the hand of the man calmed the sea .

I thought they said Put your hand in the hand of the man who stoled the water!!!

For me, growing up I loved that song "Blinded by the Light" the version done by Manfred Man. I always used to think that part of the song where they say: Blinded by the light
Revved up like a deuce, another runner in the night.

I used to sing it like this:
Blinded by the light
revved up like a douche like a roller in the night.

ROTFLMAO!!!!
This is the song I came in to mention. Only I heard it as....

Blinded by like the light
Wake up like a douche in the middle of the night

And Manfred Mann's Earth Band got that Springsteen lyric! It was not "revved up like a deuce, " it was "cut loose like deuce!"

On the other hand, Manfred Mann did give Springsteen a well-deserved boast by having his band cover songs from Bruce's first album (they covered "For You" and "Spirit In the Night" as well).

Other misheard lyrics show up in covers. The line "her ribbons and her bows have fallen from her curls" in Bob Dylan's "Just Like a Woman" became "her ribbons and her bows and the problems from her curls" when Joe Cocker covered it.

Led Zeppelin's "Poor Tom":
Misheard: "But what about that bracelet on your knee?"
Correct: "But what about that grandson on your knee?"

In the Spinners song "Games People Play," bass singer Pervis Jackson sings "12:45" at the start of the last verse. I thought he was singing, "A porridge pie!" Mmmm - tasty!

"Controversy" by Prince - When I first heard this song in 1981, not knowing who Prince was at the time or whose song this was at all, I heard him sing the title - "controversy" - and, hearing him recite the Lord's Prayer in the song, thought he'd been singing "Got your blessing!"

Buffalo Springfield's For What It's Worth (Stop, Hey What's That Sound).

Misheard lyric: Stop, hey what's that sound? Everybody look what's going 'round.

Correct lyric: Stop, hey what's that sound? Everybody look what's going down.

I first heard this song when I was a kid in the late 70s or maybe early 80s. And I always thought it was "round" instead of "down". And I just learned the correct lyric a couple of days ago. I know this mistake isn't particularly interesting or funny and probably doesn't really change the meaning of the line but I thought I'd add it anyways.
