Rohrey Wychgel, who was shot and left paralyzed after catching someone attempting to steal his car from in front of his house, passed away on November 12th, 2019. He had posted here a couple times in a thread about his segment.

Good lord...reading his obituary, you’d think he was a saint.

Geez... no kidding.

I'm all for hoping people can change their ways and become better citizens, but yeah... This is a little much. If he really did all that, good on him for helping humanity. However, that shouldn't erase the stain of the life he viciously took. Maybe tone down the hero worship a little.

I remember when I took a Journalism class in college, we were taught the official way to write an obituary. People are given the same respect regardless if you were a good person or a scum sucking killer. And since the information is usually provided by a loved one, it's pretty much a glowing review. You have to put bias aside.

With that said....holy crap that obituary was nauseating to read. You're passionate about being a support system for children, loving animals and despising human trafficking yet you have no problem with throwing a woman off a boat and running her over repeatedly because she turned down your sexual advances? And the fact that he showed next to no remorse after doing what he did? Good old Papa John. Maybe while you were busy walking on water, you could have become an advocate against the violence of women.

I am also skeptical about the obituary for Eleanor Wozniak because it listed three children but not one of them was the daughter that was found on the show. Also, if memory serves me correct in the segment it mentioned that she re-married but never had any other children and her husband was also childless. I don't think either of these people are John Elias or Eleanor Wozniak from the show.

Thanks! No mention of Rose Marie (Sally Lou Briggs Riley) or the grand children in either obituary. Sometimes the connections don't last after being reunited with an adopted child.

This is the correct John P. Elias he passed in 2008

Also not the correct John Elias. I looked up his military records and that one from 2008 is Caucasian.

Thanks for the correction. This is the only other possible match I could find online. JOHN P ALIAS passed in NY in 2002 at 88 and he was a Veteran like the segment suggested. I believe this very well may be our guy.

I don't think the John Elias in the story is dead yet? He was 11 years older than Eleanor according to the story, placing his birth year around 1924 or 1925. It's hard to tell without a photo but the ones from 2008 and 2011 are not him through the research I and others have done.

Ferdinand "Fred" Alfano, the father of LaDonna Alfano, died last August. Oddly, she is not mentioned in his obituary.
