My favorite TV theme song is "Makeing Our Dreams Come True" from "Lavern and Shirley".
With TV theme songs we only hear a condenced version of the song, because some of them were from full length studio recordings. I wonder if there is a ranking of the most successfull TV theme songs based on their performance on the Billboard hot 100 or Cashbox? The theme song from "Lavern and Shirley" was sung by Cyndi Grecco and made it up to number 25 and was on the charts for 16 weeks. Iam pretty sure that not every TV theme song was released as a single or from an album. But if you take the ones that were the "Lavern and Shirley" theme song could be near the top. Now Iam talking about original songs that were recorded around the time that the TV séries began. Yes, alot of TV shows used classic songs for their theme music, but it's those original songs that interest me the most. The theme song from "The Golden Girls" was like this. That song was also in the top 40 for a while. |

Someone should tally all theses up. We have enough of a sample size that the data would be meaningful.

Cheers has to be on my list. Also have to have Family Ties on there. It wouldn't be me if I didn't put The Flintstones theme song on my list.

My favorite theme song is the theme song from Maude. Golden Girls is a honorable mention, 227, and the Ray Charles version of the theme song from Designing Women.
