Paige Renkoski, D'wan Sims, Berniece Grey are missing people that have always stuck with me. The guys that were killed up in Mio by the brothers who are now in prison was also a good cold case that was solved
Neighbors indeed. I'm in Dearborn.

That last known victim of the OCC killer was murdered three years before I was born but that case haunts me. Especially since they all happened in such nice neighborhoods and in the middle of the day! My impression is that stranger danger wasn't as drilled into the public in the 70s as it would become in the 80s and 90s. Maybe the guy offered them all rides and that ended up making them easy abductions. I don't know. I just wish their families could get ANY news.

The hunters murdered in Mio and fed to the pigs...that is something straight out of a horror movie. Thank GOD those killers are in prison where they belong.

In my local area (Phoenix), lots of still-unsolved and UM-worthy cases:

Mikelle Biggs....little girl and her sister are waiting for the ice cream truck to come in 1999, sister runs inside, and in that 90-second window Mikelle is abducted and remains missing to this day:

A more recent case, a little boy who reportedly ran away from home but his foster mother is pretty shady:

http://www.abc15.com/news/region-wes...sed-and-hungry

Also recent, what appears to be a bona fide serial killer on the loose yet extremely little media attention outside of the metro area:

That's easy:

Elisa Lam.

One of the most complex and disturbing cases I've heard of in Los Angeles.

You could do an entire episode just on this case.

Sweet Kari Nunemaker.

This case really shook up my hometown. I was a year older than her, and was at the same indoor soccer game with her the night she was abducted and killed. In fact, I was sitting in front of her, and we shared a laugh when an errant ball flew at us. I didn't really know her, but the image of her smiling and laughing behind me has been in my mind for 25+ years now.

She hung out in all places us high school kids did, and I know the exact railroad crossing she was sitting at when she was abducted. Sat at it so many times. Lots of freight trains come through especially at night, and hold up traffic. It can be many long minutes, waiting alone in your car in the dark.

It was horrifying when her body was found. Parents were frantic about teenage girls going out alone. My aunt bought me pepper spray.

Though I've long since left the area, I was relieved to hear an arrest was finally made, almost twenty years later. It could have been a very good UM segment, but it was DNA database legwork that finally solved it.

If only there were a resident podcaster who could be up to a challenge of this magnitude....

I watched a video on YouTube last week of four friends who went to the Cecil Hotel with a camera. They went inside the exact elevator Elisa was last seen in. They also walked the fire escape all the way to the roof with no issue, which is, logically, the only way she could have gotten up there on her own.

It's extremely dark up there under the night sky without some kind of a flashlight or even the light of a cell phone. There's also a back staircase behind the water towers that requires jumping to reach once you get to the top. If you've made it that far, opening and closing the door to the water tank is difficult because it's very heavy.

If she were having some type of psychotic episode, all of these things would be difficult but not impossible. So they concluded, in their minds, that this was the situation.

It's not local to me, but the disappearance of Patty Adkins from Marysville, OH really sticks in my craw. Not because it's all that mysterious, but because it's obvious what happened and no one has been able to do anything about it.

Was that the girl who went mental in the lift then turned up dead in a Water Tank?

Agreed. This is one so frustrating and sad. I think Disappeared did a good episode on it?

That poor girl, and her poor family.

If you're responding to my message, yes, Disappeared did an episode on this one. It's a super tragic story, and my heart breaks for her family.

My childhood best friends brother was working at the Honda plant there when this happened. It was pretty much the common agreement that the "boyfriend" had something to do with it.

Yeah, I can't seen any other scenario based on the established facts of the case. Cases like this where the circumstances are obvious but they can't make a case really frustrate me.

This case struck a sharper chord with me than most. I think this had a lot to do with how the Disappeared episode present Patty as a person. It really struck a chord because she reminded me in a lot of ways of women in my family. I saw someone who was driven, motivated and self-made while at the same time vulnerable, kind and decent.

Such a tragedy.
