i'll answer that by turning the question on you. Why did so many of the suspects, and then several people who obviously didnt commit the crime, say there was a party there? What would their motive be for lying? Why say a party happened at the ellenders if it never happened? Why would these people, the partiers lie?

Why would shawn moody say one of the killers told him about the party and that it was true, if it never happened? Why would pearl frugey and kim manuel lie about the party and the murders? Why would that one guy say his friend showed him the video of the murder and rape and then why would he implicate his friend in it?

Thats an awful lot of people, saying that the party occured. Neighbors and cars driving by may not have seen it, but alot of people said the party occured.

They would lie to the Ellender family in an attempt to get some sort of compensation for the "information" they're providing. It could all be attributed to teenage gossip, really. Let's say someone heard from one of their friends that so and so was at the Ellender house when they were killed. Then this person tells another and another and it goes on so much that it appears to be true. And somewhere down the line one of those people who heard the rumors might come forward and reveal what they've heard (possibly for some sort of reward, or maybe they are just genuinely sharing information they've heard).

Yep. And we know that Littleton was caught compensating some of these "witnesses." This ticked the Sheriff's department off.

And I don't think all of the witnesses were lying. I think some of them were just repeating rumors they had heard.

Bumping this one. If a group of "crypts" let's say did this or were alleged to be at the house when it happened people would focus on the group as well. It's not so much the group but it is the actions of a group that make people stereotype others. In this case it was difficult because it appeared multiple people may have been involved or knew more that could break the case.

the other witnesses were clearly liars and attention seekers.

Rewatched this one recently. In Chip Richard's interview, you can hear where it appears he's caught himself fibbing about actually having seen the alleged videotape of the Ellender murder. I'd have to go back and watch it to give the verbatim verbiage, but it's something like "the ones I seen--or the ones other people have told me they seen--"

Just like the Runyan case, there definitely is no tape.

A search shows him having passed away in 2015 in his early forties, was it natural causes or did he never fully grow out of this teenage lifestyle with drugs etc?

We are Satan's Kids Against The Establishment, acid is groovy, kill the pigs. We gonna invade a house, kill the adult occupants & molest their corpses & we gonna get it all on film like everything that basically goes on ya know? Then we gonna invite loads of people over & have a drug party in their house, the kid never woke up with all the noise & nobody noticed her or the two corpses in the house & oh yeah, we made sure not to leave any empty booze bottles or drug remnants/paraphernalia around after-because we satanic teens against the establishment always clean up after ourselves & we woz super careful not to spill any drink or drugs on the floor.

The father came off really badly in this, wonder if he was highly religious & this caused him to abandon all common sense & pursue this ludicrous story? Obviously the SRA stuff was still alive & well in the mid 1990's-even seven years after Geraldo's laughable show on it. Is this story remotely believable? Or is it more likely that the couple startled the robbers/maybe struggled with them & got shot in the panic?

But everybody has seen it, just that none of them can find the tapes any longer.

Just watched this one again and think it's pretty open and shut........as mentioned, Prudhomme and a few others originally broke in to the home to burglarize the place, but because they were high on/tripping off of LSD, when they saw the shotgun, they decided to shoot Pam & Eric.

This link mentioned the authorities now consider the case closed
