One little nitpick I noticed on the Dexter Stefonek episode. They end the episode before they describe what the killer's truck looked like, I remembered this part because I have it recorded off of Lifetime. It seemed like a weird edit to me, but I could be wrong.

I'm just happy we can watch these episodes again!
Yeah. Here it is. Right after the sketch of the truck, Robert Stack informs viewers to get in touch with a certain police department from Montana. Not sure why they edited this part out. Doesn't make sense.

Yup, that's it. I distinctly remember that sketch of the truck.

Three episodes in and I still can't believe how well the remastering was done.

Given that these took place in 1987 this was truly an impressive job.

I saw someone earlier mention how good the sound was when connected to something other than the TV, well I have a nice fancy 4k TV....But I'm cheap and certainly have no external sound source and even directly from the TV, loud and clear.

Video won't compare to circa 2017 streaming video, but for it to be as clear as it is given the age of the source material, Filmrise did one hell of a job.

I am amazed that almost all of my "favorite" cases are included in this "season 1", kind of crazy. Hard to know that they were those cases until I watched them, as when the titles of the cases don't include the names of the victims, it's hard to know what it is...if it's just titled "amnesia" and it took me a bit to figure out "halloween party" was kurt sova, so I was pretty psyched. Also, not sure if anyone has gotten there yet, but they even included the New Kids on the Block update on the Kari Lynn Nixon segment, crazy!

I'm really surprised too with just how many well-known UM cases were aired in Season 1.

The big standout here to me though is the audio. I'm watching these with my 7.1 surround sound on and these episodes are very loud. Whomever did the audio remastering on these did a really fantastic job. I cannot even begin to express how truly impressed I am with audio quality.
I will second the audio quality! On a lot of these cases that I have seen hundreds of times, I feel like I am watching a newly edited case, because Stack's announcing is so crisp, clear, and loud. It really does feel like a whole new segment.

Seeing these episodes with updates is not only awesome, but it makes you realized what a botched experiment the Farina episodes were. Nothing against Mr. Farina (God rest his soul) -- the production of those was overdone and really took away from the stories. The Stack episodes in their original form are still way better.
I second that after watching these...of how terrible the Farina episodes are after seeing the originals in their true format (and I had been watching the Farina episodes for the past couple of weeks, while waiting on these.) I even told my wife just how well this show was made and how cinematic each case was...I guess it has to be, since I can repeatedly watch them more than anything and they never get old!

I chatted with customer service over at Amazon and they checked and said that it totally depends on the content developer to avail a title in other countries. Looks like CM has screwed me over again.

I remember when the WWE Network got released it was rolled out in the U.S First then Canada a month or so later then internationally another month or so after that so I guess maybe it'll be the same with this.

Sooooo can someone talk me through what Amazon Prime is like? I've never used it before. Is it like Netflix? Are any of you doing the 30 day free trial first?

It's basically the same thing as Netflix in the sense that it has streaming movies and TV shows.

Has some advantages though, comes with free two day shipping on most Amazon.com products and Streaming music as well. As for free trial, I've been a member for awhile, but it wouldn't hurt to try it out first.

It most certainly is. That was one of the ones I was most looking forward to seeing in this format myself. It even included an update at the end.

Once the show left NBC I think those intros were eliminated altogether, no? I'm of the opinion that the network recorded those intros themselves and tacked them on to the beginning. If that were the case, then it would make sense that they can't use them now since they technically never belonged to UM in the first place. Just a thought.
I'd say you are correct. The original voice over was done by Danny Dark who was the voice of NBC at the time, many older members would recognize him as the voice of Superman in the various versions of ABC's Superfriends. (his voice overs for V and V The Final Battle intros are fantastic) The same thing happened with the first season teasers for The Greatest American Hero. They were created and voiced at ABC with Ernie Anderson, so if you don't have them from original recordings you are out of luck. 2nd and 3rd season were created in house at Cannell Productions, so those still exist. My guess since it appears the disclaimer slate appears to be new on the streaming versions (not the original white text on black background) that the one we are used to seeing was NBC produced and not even on the original masters of the episodes. I didn't pull out any of my original recorded episodes to check, but the streaming version appeared to have a slightly different font.

They should have found a guy with a better voice to do the new one, he sounds kinda wimpy, as if they had no one, and pulled some guy out of a nearby office and asked, can you read this?

LOL
