Eerie! I know this might sound silly, but isn't a dead fish sometimes used as a threat against other people, as in ''you'll sleep with the fishes?'' However, it's hard to tell whether or not there really was foul play. Another thing that freaked me out: How do they know he was apparently startled around 8:30 by a noise? Did someone see him come out of his room? Did someone else hear a strange noise and hear his door open after? How on Earth did they come up with that information? I'm really intrigued!

Apparently Tammen had been studying with another student right before he went missing. He then went to his own room to study, the other student used the bathroom, and when he came out Tammen was gone. No mention if this student heard a noise, though: http://www.miamistudent.net/news/tra...req=1#.UeYCDG1 .

There's also a site that has articles and documents relating to his disappearance: http://trailtothetruth.com/ Tammen belonged to a fraternity, and one of the theories is that members of the fraternity or those pledging to it may have had some involvement in his disappearance (at least that might explain the fish in his bed).

here's another rare Wyoming case. http://www.charleyproject.org/cases/u/uden_reagan.html

2 boys and mother go missing. Car is later found in a canyon, somebody tried to push it all the way down to destroy evidence, but it became lodged part of the way down. Somebody then attempted to hide the car with brush. CP link has conflicting info: at one point it says they disappeared from Lander, WY, but another item says Riverton, WY. Elswhere on the net it says not a lot of investigation was done on the case and it appears that is true. I wonder why, especially since it's three people missing. I do have to wonder if the ex-husband is involved, but I'm not sure he would have had a motive and the opportunity.

Some ones I found intriguing:
http://www.charleyproject.org/cases/l/long_mary.html
Who doesn't report their 16-year-old child missing for SEVEN YEARS? I think we can assume there was tension in this family, but come on.

http://www.charleyproject.org/cases/..._kathleen.html
A very famous case that involves all kinds of twists and turns, including having her friend break into the house after her disappearance to search for evidence, two different murders, and an an abusive husband who was feared by his wife before she went missing. I think her friend is a really awesome person and really fought to find out what happened, but unfortunately, the guilty-looking husband is free.

http://www.charleyproject.org/cases/...art_tracy.html
Terrifying but thankfully arrests have been made. No doubt the younger killer was very charismatic and friendly and made her feel comfortable enough after a date to go home with him. Their meeting place was in the beach city right next to my hometown.

http://www.charleyproject.org/cases/...h_michele.html
How many cases are there like this, where someone else was supposed to be working that day or someone else was supposed to be working with the person who went missing? I've read so many I've lost count.

http://www.charleyproject.org/cases/...son_nancy.html
Two caretakers of a ranch, a husband and wife, go missing. Their vehicle is found with blood and other items previously thought to be missing. Apparently the area they watched over had been the scene of an arson fire and they were set to be interviewed in the near future about the blaze. There was also a great deal of blood and signs of a struggle in the home.

^ Re: Mary Long: Yeah, the timing of that is weird. It says she went missing in 1981, yet the site has pictures of her from 1982? Perhaps it's a typo?

Re: Kathleen Durst: I remember reading that one. That case has more twists than Chubby Checker in a blender. Did any true crime shows profile it?

Re: Tracy Stewart: I know I linked to that one, but it was in another thread. The other victims they were discussing in that link were from the John Purvis case.

Re: Michelle Reidenbach: I was just mentioning the other day on here about how often somebody goes missing when they got called into work. Nancy Kitzmiller was murdered on what was supposed to be her day off.

Okay, here's another "got called into work..." story. this one sounds positively HORRIFYING! http://www.charleyproject.org/cases/d/dove_kelly.html

Male customer bothers her all throughout the midnight shift and she calls 911 three times. Police arrive 2 minutes after the last call, but she had already vanished. Creepy doesn't begin to describe it.

a somewhat similar case

Yes, I remember posting those. I have some doubts about the police in Dove's case arriving in two minutes after they failed to respond the first two times. If they really did make it in two minutes, then the kidnapper must have been able to quickly force her into a vehicle.

As for Lynn Burdick, one has to wonder if the attempted abductor of the college student is the one responsible. It seems really plausible considering how close he was to the store.

What makes Dove's case so eerie was that it was on an isolated part of the road. Plus, he had been harassing her and stuff. Most criminals do their thing quickly and get out, but it seems like he had been terrorizing her and she was very frightened.

I think Burdick's kidnapper and the attempted abductor of the college student are the same.

I haven't been able to find much online about either woman, but here are some articles people in another forum posted about Kelly Dove: http://www.officialcoldcaseinvestiga...ead.php?p=8914

Her mother has personally looked and even hired psychics.

Now I take back what I said about the police. The info on Charley made me feel that the calls to 911 were farther apart but they were only two minutes apart, which would explain why police had yet to arrive. Sounds like this creep was taunting her and relishing the fear, right out of a true crime book or movie. How awful and this was long before surveillance videos were normal so we have no hope of knowing what this guy looked like since no one else saw him. Her daughter is now 35- in five years she will be twice as old as her mom was at the time of her abduction.

The Lynn Burdick case is also really haunting. She'd worked there for three years and probably felt really comfortable and safe- she probably was not going to work there much longer, either, considering she was graduating from high school soon after.

There's conflicting info about the series of 911 calls. It's difficult to ascertain which is true.

Normally I would be apprehensive about convenience stores, but this one was right near her house, so I agree with you about how she probably felt safe.

I would love more info on those cases. It really is too bad there's so little out there.

Here are some more I found eerie:

http://www.charleyproject.org/cases/...t_barbara.html
Another case of a young girl probably being flattered and charmed by an older man.

http://www.charleyproject.org/cases/...on_rachel.html
Another case of a young girl missing from her home with a suspected stepfather.

Oh yeah, wiseguy, I found this the other day. It covers kids who have gone missing from school; both Kiplyn Davis and Roger Ellison are on the list.

wow, thanks. It's nice to see a recent article on such old cases such as Deanie Peters.

Here is the CP link for the Cary Sayegh one. I remember that one. It mentions that Cary's father was facing legal problems for attempting to bribe a public official. The CP link doesn't say it, but said public official was none other than Harry Reid, the U.S. Senate Majority Leader since January 2007.

http://www.charleyproject.org/cases/s/sayegh_cary.html

Kara Kopetsky and Kyron Horman are pretty famous ones, though I have huge doubts Horman actually made it to school that day. Kopetsky was profiled on Disappeared and Vanished with Beth Holloway. That's the first I heard of her having an argument with a teacher that day, very interesting.

Same, I haven't been able to find that information anywhere else.

I actually spent a good deal of time checking out Listverse yesterday and there are several articles about missing people that you're probably familiar with, such as the Fandel children. The lists are short and little information is given, but it's an interesting read anyway.
