Right. That police officer is so mixed up in those disappearances. They eventually fired him, but that was not enough imo.

I know somebody was talking about this one on here, but I can't find the post.
http://www.charleyproject.org/cases/r/ross_jesse.html

This case was profiled on Vanished with Beth Holloway. I was always thought it was odd that this United Nations summit or whatever it's called was going on as late as 3:00 and apparently lasted all night. Do these things typically go on at those hours?

Another interesting thing was that Ross was originally from Belton, MO, which is where another high-profile missing persons case happened: that of Kara Kopesty, which was the other case profiled on this episode. She has also been profiled on Disappeared
http://www.charleyproject.org/cases/...tsky_kara.html

Going back to Ross, his father and brother eventually made it up to Chicago and spent a week looking for him, but their efforts were initially delayed due to a severe snowstorm and they couldn't get up there faster than they did.

One lead, and I'm not sure if anything ever came of this, but one of his closer friends said he had a CD on him that was sort of a "demo tape" if you will, and that he planned on giving to a certain music group that was performing at a rave that night. Additionally, he may have had a flyer for the performance in his hotel room, but it may have been thrown out without anyone realizing its significance. I'm not familiar with raves, but aren't they known for their drug usage. I'm wondering if Ross went to this rave, perhaps got drunk, high or a combination thereof and he ended up not unlike Kurt Sova.

I'll have to go back when I get a chance and look through Charley Project so I find the actual links (I don't have them right now), but a couple interesting California cases stood out.

In one, a woman went missing up in the mountains near Shaver Lake in Fresno County, CA (I am from a nearby county so it caught my attention). The man she was up there with is evidently a big bigfoot enthusiast, and he apparently told investigators that Bigfoot kidnapped the missing woman. He appears to be the number one suspect (the Bigfoot enthusiast, I mean).

Another interesting case is of a young man from Los Angeles County who disappeared in 1995. His car was found abandoned not long after in the area of Colorado City, AZ. For those not familiar with why this would be significant, Colorado City is the home of the Fundamentalist Latter-Day Saints (FLDS) and the Centennial Park "Second Warders" who broke with the FLDS in the 1980's. In 1995 the FLDS was nowhere near under the amount of scrutiny it has been under in the last decade, but they were still very, very untrusting and hostile to outsiders. And Colorado City police were all loyal members of the FLDS. Could this guy have wandered in town and met with foul play from someone who didn't want him there? I don't know but it's very interesting and the case is set at a time when Warren Jeffs first began to be a real power in that religion.

I seem to remember that one, but not from Charley Project. I get this feeling I read about it somewhere else or maybe even saw it on another true crime show. But in any event, "Bigfoot took her" has to be in the top five of the dumbest things said in a police interview I've ever heard about.

Somebody mentioned the Bigfoot one a little while ago in the thread. Here is the link to the Charley Project case file

Is this the other one you're talking about?

^All manner of possibilities on this one. Did he commit suicide? Did he burn in the fire at the hotel? Did somebody get pissed off at him at the union hall disruption? Or did he voluntarily disappear?

WAY too little info to speculate, but I wonder whether he didn't set the fire himself.

I cannot believe they decided to drop those charges. You have a man telling you the reason a child last known to be in your company was taken by freaking Bigfoot, for Pete's sake.

possibility. Elsewhere on CP, it's says he was involved in a bar fight that evening. I'm curious how he got into a bar when he was underage.

^sad case. Such a cute kid but sounds like he had lots of hardships in life. Sadly, for various reasons I fear he might have been a target for a pedophile or something. He had bad vision and I know people with deviated septums, like him, are suspectible to blindness. He was very smart book-wise but I read elsewhere online he had no common sense. Baffled by this one though: what kid would voluntarily disappear right before going to Disney World, yet he had a history of running away. The part where the parents move 4 years later, but leave a note for their son behind gets to me. I wonder if the older kids at school who were bullying him were behind it, then again maybe the weren't. I can't imagine he could have wandered off very far due to his limited sight.

^ BIZARRE one. It kind of sounds like he was kidnapped after a burglary, but who the hell makes their escape in a very distinctive car with a trailer? Happened in a high-traffic area during a busy weekend yet nobody apparently saw anything.

^Teen guy goes missing and his father may have inadvertantly drove away from the crime scene -- just as the crime was taking place! Sounds like the fiancee's father-in-law didn't approve of their marriage and did him in.

http://www.charleyproject.org/cases/...s_mikelle.html
Two sister go out to wait for an ice cream truck they think they hear coming, one sister goes back for her coat and returns within 90 seconds to find her older sister gone.

http://www.charleyproject.org/cases/l/lewis_teekah.html
A child is abducted even though about a dozen of her family members were with her at the time. Her mother claims she only took her eyes off of her for a moment in a bowling alley

http://www.charleyproject.org/cases/...elizabeth.html
Strange odyssey of a tale. A woman, put up for adoption at birth, searches for her birth family in adulthood. She finds her half-brother, begins a relationship with him, and they have a child together. She vanishes when planning to end their relationship. Over a decade later, the half-brother is dating another woman with her own children. She vanishes, too. And it turns out he's molesting the daughter the whole time! Sick guy. The worst part? He only got a short sentence, is free in society, and neither of the missing women have been found.

Those are some sad ones. Sounds like Mikelle was abducted just literally seconds before her sister returned to the area. This may be neither here nor there, but does one really need a jacket in Arizona? Especially if they were going for ice cream and only going to be a few seconds? Ice cream drivers can be WEIRD sometimes. There was one that used to go by my sister's old house. Would constantly drive the truck but would never have any ice cream in it. Kids would go up to him all the time and he just turned them away.

Re: Teekah Lewis, that bowling alley sounds like BAD NEWS. I wish the mother wouldn't have allowed her 2 year old to be in a bowling alley that late at night.

I remember reading about Elizabeth Eisel. That case is MESSED UP.

I've only been to Arizona in the summer, but I'm sure in January it can be pretty chilly. Maybe they were waiting and the sister thought it would be best to go back for the jacket because they hadn't seen the ice cream truck yet and thought they would have to wait a little longer. What I find really creepy is that whatever was making the sound of an ice cream truck might have been the vehicle that she was pulled into. I'm going to hazard a guess that perhaps there were two abductors because she was pulled away so fast that there seemed to be no struggle or no chance for one. Also, there was no sound heard from her. Who knows, if the little sister hadn't gone back inside for a jacket, she could have been taken, too.

I lived in a safe neighborhood growing up, but I also found most ice cream drivers to be a little off. I remember one time a truck parked outside of our sports game and was being distracting for tennis matches so he was told to leave and put up a fight about it. Nothing as weird as having no ice cream and just sitting there though

The ones that involve no possible suspect, no apparent motive, and no paper trail are the most fascinating to me. I was bored one day and decided to look at cases in the Maryland area and came across this one:

http://www.charleyproject.org/cases/...katherine.html

The lady was leaving a auto repair shop on her way to work and never showed up. Her car was abandoned with no trace of her. The odometer showed that it had been driven for 45 miles after leaving the shop. No one has heard from her or seen her since.

Apologies if this one has already been posted, but it's a pretty intriguing older case: http://www.charleyproject.org/cases/...en_ronald.html

Two young men were last seen at a bar http://www.charleyproject.org/cases/s/seelman_mark.html and http://www.charleyproject.org/cases/...n_douglas.html. A good article on the case: http://www.uticaod.com/news/x5930439...ssing-19-years

Married couple vanishes from their home: http://www.charleyproject.org/cases/...n_william.html. Three associates of the couple seemed to have had connections to the disappearance: http://elpasotimes.typepad.com/morgu...l-missing.html

Ranger working for the NPS goes missing:: http://www.charleyproject.org/cases/f/fugate_paul.html

Woman vanishes from cruise ship: http://www.charleyproject.org/cases/...r_annette.html

A catamaran and it's passengers were lost at sea, but there's controversy over what may have occurred: http://www.charleyproject.org/cases/...ich_milan.html

From the Doe Network: a murdered couple, similar to the Sumter County Does, found in Oklahoma in 1995: http://doenetwork.org/cases/419umok.html

Somewhat off topic: George Smith IV's disappearance doesn't appear to be listed on either CP or DN, but is on UM's wiki page. Was it ever actually aired on UM? I know that 48 Hours did feature it.
