I often check out the chronological index for certain decades. I don't know why. These cases always intrigue and sadden me and I wish there was something I could do about it. I've also probably checked out most if not all of them.

As for Leigh's case, I think it sounds odd that a stranger would happen to strike right in that small gap. And that the mother would decide to leave her alone for the first time on the day of a hurricane.

I think she knows more, too.

yeah, nothing the mother says makes any degree of sense whatsoever. The way the mother talks, it sounds like they were not at all concerned about the deadly hurricane, but a little lightening is enough to frighten a 13 year old to the point that she sleeps in her mother's bed? The mother failing 3 polygraphs also bothers me. I think she was involved somehow.

I read in another forum that she allegedly called the grandmother to go check on Leigh because she was closer (5 mins away as opposed to 10 or 15) but that the mother ended up going herself instead. So where was the grandmother this whole time? When was she supposed to pick Leigh up?

And why did the mother randomly become worried after barely any time passed? I just have a hard time believing this random crime, violent enough to have a lot of blood and attempted cleaning, took place in such a short time slot on the day of a hurricane. Whoever did it also did it well enough for her to never be found...

This case reminds me of Robert Weeks. Three women go missing after having attempting to sever a relationship with the same man. (Links to the pages of the other two missing women are in the case summary.)

I don't think that the pornography lead is credible, but it's a strange case nonetheless:

http://www.charleyproject.org/cases/r/rahn_laureen.html

Californian teenagers decide to elope to Las Vegas, but their car is discovered abandoned in Arizona several days later:

http://www.charleyproject.org/cases/...an_donnis.html

Two students at a school for the developmentally disabled run away together; neither was located:

Husband and wife disappear after being seen at the bank drive through with an unidentified man:

http://www.charleyproject.org/cases/...ey_shelly.html

Couple's disappearance leads to all sorts of speculations (including a murder for hire):

This one caught my eye. She comes off as a young naïve girl who ran off with a child molester who ended up pornographic pictures of her online.

I must say The Charly Project is my new favorite website. Most of the stories are tragic but it’s fascinating how most of these ppl just vanished into thin air!

Well if this isn't an example of complete INCOMPETENCE then I don't know what is! One of Serial Killer Ted's Bundy's victims:

http://www.charleyproject.org/cases/m/manson_donna.html

Last seen in March '74, the poor girl's technically "still missing" yet a partial skeleton was apparently discovered and a Skull was found in 1978. All the X-rays and documents have gone missing and the remains were placed into a landfill WTF? Surely all remains would be kept by forensics until a positive identification could be made. The whole thing sounds suss to me.

Hey wiseguy. It's a photo of missing (Kansas?) man Michael "Bradyn" Fuksa (Yes that's his surname!). His story was featured on an Episode of Disappeared. Missing since July 2009 after fleeing some type of theft charge.

Now this is unusual. My fiancé and I are watching Chopped on Food Network last night. The show usually features professional chefs competing against each other for a monetary prize, but last night's episode was a special amateur home cooks competition. Anyway, during the biographical portion of one of the contestants, she suddenly said her sister has been missing for 31 years and showed a photograph of her. This is her sister:

I wasn't expecting to hear about a missing person case on Food Network. I hope they find out what happened to her.

I don't post on Websleuths, but I was checking out the thread for Judith last night; her sister posts frequently and talked about how she would be on Chopped to discuss Judith. Check out the thread for more info and insight from her sister if you're interested.

I'm intrigued by pretty much any disappearance from the 80's, the decade I was born and began growing up in. I don't know if that's the reason or not, but there seems to be a certain mystique to that decade.

For some reason, the Pamela Ray case is the one that really sticks with me. http://charleyproject.org/cases/r/ray_pamela.html

This is another one that's stuck with me. Roger John Ellison. Pretty rare one in that he disappeared while attending school. Quite a few theories on this one: Killed by a teacher, the mysterious guys hanging around, and the possibility that he ditched school and hitchhiked and met his demise. Quite a handsome fellow and love the hair.

http://www.charleyproject.org/cases/...son_roger.html

what do you all think of this one? There's some more info elsewhere on the net.
