What a nightmare! I had no idea about this sort of thing at all. It certainly lends credence to that possibility.

Very sad case. She obviously was intercepted when running away.

That is heartbreaking. I don't understand what motivates anyone to hurt a child.

And why on earth wouldn't you stop if you saw a little girl no more than ten years old walking along a highway by herself at 4 AM?

When I saw the part about her things being found in plastic trash bags it really hit me hard. That's so tragic. I would probably have pulled over and asked her if she needed help or would have called the police to check on her. It's so creepy that they saw her wandering off the highway. Maybe she got afraid that someone would stop and make her go back home and then decided to go off of the road to hide. Then that's when whoever grabbed her got a hold of her, and the abductor probably, in the scuffle, dropped some of those belongings in the doorway as she was last seen walking around there, or (I think this is more likely) she herself dropped these items while trying to flee. Then later the same person probably discarded the rest of her things where they were found over 20 miles away.

This isn't a Charley Project case, but I just discovered it yesterday and stayed up for hours reading the victim's website, maintained by her family. It's well over a hundred pages and hard to navigate, so I'll condense it here. According to the website, her story is also available on websleuths.

Emily Jeanette Garcia of San Antonio, TX, 15 years old and 3 months pregnant with a little boy whom her family named Emilio, was abducted in 1993, held for about 2 weeks, assaulted, murdered, and her body dumped. She had been dead only a few hours when her body was discovered. She lost 12 pounds while being confined, which led me to believe that her captor(s) neglected to feed her the entire time they had her.

Her family got very little/no help from officials, so decided to work with about 10 psychics, whose information wasn't very helpful and often contradictory and vague.

The case was featured on the TV show, Paranormal State. A Las Vegas teen named Savannah claimed that Emily's spirit visited her. IIRC, Emily's family was furious over what happened with that.

To obtain their consent, it was presented to them as a student project for college, but was aired on the TV program without the family's knowledge. It was a cruel hoax and the family have proof that Savannah had studied Emily's extensive website to glean information to reveal in her "psychic visions".

Emily had been fingerprinted as a child for safety reasons. She was abducted from San Antonio on 2/12/1993 and was reported missing within several hours. On 2/25/1993 the body of a woman fitting Emily's description was found one county away from where she was abducted.

Law enforcement didn't connect the two cases and poor Emily was buried either nude or in a hospital gown, depending on who you talk to, and placed in a pauper's grave. It took about a year for her mother to find out what happened to her. The childhood fingerprints saved by her mother confirmed Emily's identity.

Her family had her exhumed and reburied her in the family plot at a different cemetery. Her unborn son was removed from her body, cremated, and disposed of by the ME's office. They did not preserve any biological samples for later DNA testing, the father hasn't been identified. (Determining paternity could possibly have led to a suspect, imo.)

Police also are investigating a possible connection to another unsolved murders. Eleven-year-old Heidi Seeman was murdered two-and-a-half years before Emily, in 1990. Both girls were last seen in north San Antonio. Their bodies were found within five miles of each other in Comal and Hays counties (about 60 miles from SA). There are some other similarities that police are keeping confidential.

Two that I think could also be connected: Sarah Gonzales and Priscilla Amarez, murdered on December 17, 1994. Their bodies were found the next day. Ramon Hernandez, with at least one other murder on his record, was arrested and sentenced to death.

The police have DNA from the suspect, so Emily's killer may eventually be found.

Yet another reason for me to hate Paranormal State. Emily's story is horrific. For anyone to capitalize on it in such a way is absolutely disgusting. May the "demon" that has been chasing Ryan bit him firmly on the ass for this.

Around 8 people were just arrested here in Pennsylvania as part of one of these crews. They came from all over the country. I just read about it in the newspaper tonight and for this area, it was really bizarre. Evidently, they were being pretty aggressive and insisting on cash payments for the subscriptions.

Missing grandmother and child; the latter's body was found several years later but there is no trace of the grandmother.

Another stepfather involved in a mysterious disappearance.

Also, here is a segment UM filmed, but was not permitted to air. The husband, in my opinion, seems totally guilty.

When I visit Charley I just hit the random case button. Some cases are familiar, others aren't. All of them sad there are some cases that look accidental, others that seem like they were probably suicides.

I'm saddened by the number of kids but I find the Senior cases just as sad.

Such as:

One of the scariest ones I have ever read was about a family (mother, father, one-year-old son) by a duo who would kidnap, torture, and murder victims. The family made the mistake of putting an ad out with their address. Horrifying! And there were others still never found on top of those who were:

http://www.charleyproject.org/cases/d/dubs_deborah.html

^ Describes it for the whole family.

IIRC, that family was either originally from michigan or the lady's mother lived in michigan. I remember reading about it in the detroit free press or the detroit news way back about 1988, when they did a big story on it.

It's another case that literally made me sick to read about. And I'm disgusted about Lake escaping justice and Ng using canadian extradition laws to play the system, costing california taxpayers a ton of money and costing victim's families even more unimaginable pain and grief.

I know, TracyLynn, it's awful. I shouldn't have put in the "favorite" section, it was more one that shocked me the most. Sorry I reminded you of it

Here's one that I find incredibly fascinating.
http://www.charleyproject.org/cases/w/welden_paula.html

And the corresponding websleuths thread:
http://www.websleuths.com/forums/sho...source=message

"Glastenbury is the paranormal capital of Vermont. For decades the mountain has had sightings of UFOs, Bigfoot, phantom panthers, mysterious robed figures, strange disappearances, you name it! Indeed, H.P. Lovecraft set his one-and-only alien story, The Whisperer in Darkness, in the Glastenbury area."

Isn't that terrifying but so fascinating? There have been many disappearances and legends surrounding this mountain area for centuries! What do you all think?
