Battle Royale (2000) on DVD

Set in a dystopian world where Japan's youth rebel against adults after a major recession, the gov't has set up a program where a middle school class is chosen at random to fight to the death until only one remains.

The film was very controversial upon release and blamed for subsequent incidents of children murderers in Japan.

I have this same DVD, also bought the Blu, but kept the DVD since the Blu has zero special features, but the transfer is fantastic.

Love this movie, too bad the sequel was a total letdown.

I may check out the sequel "just because" as I haven't seen it. I know the surviving boy and girl come back.

I tried watching the features, but they don't have English subtitles. It only had Korean.

Yeah, though the bit with Quentin Tarantino was English. I still watched them even if I couldn't understand them haha I thought getting the complete collection Blu which has the special features in English, but at the time I just didn't want to buy part 2 a second time.

Life Of The Party.

If you're in a coma and looking to kill time, go for it. Otherwise, skip it.

Thumbs up A deadly silence , 1989

The father of three children was killed when he left his house. This provokes a lot of sentimental emotions in the neighbourhood because the people know nothing about his dark past.

I really liked this!! It was a made for TV true story that took place on Long Island, NY in 1987 ! And a very young , very cute David Schwimmer was in this, one of his first roles!! Not only was he cute, but his acting was really good and he did a very believable NY accent in this! Along with very good performances from Sally Struthers and Mike Farrell !
