Default Furst Family of Washington and That's My Mama

Some have said the 1973 made for TV movie, the Furst Family of Washington was unofficial pilot for That's My Mama. I have seen some IMDB listings that show the film had characters of the same name for the most part and Theresa Merritt was the only one from the project to do TMM.

My theory is that Clifton Davis was a hot item during this time after the short lived Melba Moore-Clifton Davis show and someone wanted him in another vehicle. Then, we heard the age old saying that TMM was ABC's attempt to answer both Good Times and Sanford and Son.

What has everyone else heard?

With two weak lead characters it was the wrong answer lol

That's My Mama was a mixed bag, though I really enjoyed the first season. I would really like to see 'The Furst Family Of Washington', just to get a compare and contrast!
