Lecy, the original Becky much better! She seemed like she belonged with the family more! Also when Sarah joined the cast the show was horrible at that point. I only liked the earlier seasons of Roseanne!

The first one. The second one didn't seem to fit in with the Conners as much. She was a little bit "too pretty" and "perfect". Lecy was just right for the role IMO.

Lecy is the best. Never did like Sarah, I don't think she can act.

Lecy Goranson was definitely the best Becky, and I'm not being biased.

I just recently started watching Roseanne again, and Sarah Chalke makes me cringe. She was very off and had no comedy timing. Lecy portrayed a realistic teenager.

This is the problem with trying to replace a character everyone is used to. He or she can't be, and anyone filling in won't measure up, especially when the original actor is well-liked.

Since Lecy Goranson wanted to complete her schooling, the character should have been written out of the show, with the occasional scene showing Becky on the phone.

And Sarah Chalke was not necessarily THAT pretty. She was physically attractive, but not a beauty. Looks don't define a character anyway.

Then again, the show was falling apart at this point. So I wasn't surprised by bad decisions.

Lecy, by a mile. Sarah Chalke couldn't act worth a lick when she was on Roseanne. She got better a few years later, but she was weak at portraying Becky.

Maybe this is unfair, but one of the biggest knocks that I've heard about Sarah Chalke is that she seemed to be too pretty to be believable as a person from blue collar, lower middle class family. In a way, Sarah's Becky (with her deciedly taller, more modelesque looks when compared to Lecy Goranson's Becky) was like the '90s version of Marilyn Munster.
