Question Are Avatar: The Last Air Bender and Buffy: The Vampire Slayer similar shows

Both shows start with a character who is new to the area after refusing to live up to their responsibilities and ignoring their destiny. It progresses with their building their groups up of people with different powers to fight evil. As for the slayer / avatar, in order for another one to be called up, the previous one needs to die. These small sentences aren't enough to go on, but where it gets similar is the characters themselves:
  • - Buffy / Aang: As explained before, both characters have to go through an arc of accepting their responsibilities and living up to them.
  • - Willow / Katara: Both start out as novices in their respective fields (waterbending and witchcraft), but over their series slowly become the masters of their craft.
  • - Xander / Sokka: Both these guys don't have any power at all to speak of, but are played very much as the comic relief of the series.
  • - Spike / Zuko: Both of them start out as bad guys, but eventually join up with the group dynamic of providing some much needed training and insight to the main character.
