A pilot for the series was ordered by The CW, but passed on before Netflix picked up the series.

The series was filmed in Newnan, Georgia. Season 2 was filmed from early-March 2019 to late-June 2019.

Will Patty Be Caught?
The monstrous abilities of Patty were on full display once again throughout Season 2, as she killed her supposed father Gordy (Dana Ashbrook), three goons who were after her mom, and Stella Rose (Beverly D’Angelo) for real this time. It had become increasingly difficult for Patty to navigate life with all the killings at risk of being exposed. This was a major question heading into Season 2, yet the problem significantly escalated. And based on the Season 2 ending, it seems Patty is not done yet. With no season 3 planned will we get the answers to all our burning questions?

Prior to the show's release, The Guardian reported on July 24, 2018, that over 100,000 people had signed an online petition on Change.org started on July 20, 2018, calling for Netflix to cancel Insatiable, accusing it of "fat shaming".

Lauren Gussis, the show's creator, defended the show, saying it was based on her own experiences as a teenager.

Yet no matter what assumptions you think you can make about the 12-episode narrative based on this seemingly straightforward plot summary, think again.

In the very first episode of Netflix’s Insatiable, lead Patty Bladell (Debby Ryan) nearly sets a man on fire in a hotel room. “My demon was out — and she was hungry,” she says before deciding against homicide. But, by the end of the series’ second episode, “Skinny Is Magic,” that would-be victim, Patty's nemesis John (Daniel Thomas May), is dead after Patty wishes for his demise. From then on, a whopping six people die by Patty’s hand without question. Still, Insatiable plays the carnage around Patty as a necessary and oftentimes humorous tragedy, even into season 2. The deeply problematic black comedy suggests Patty isn’t a cold-blooded killer — she’s a teen put in terrible situations.
