TV Insatiable TV Show Facts and Trivia

All adults in the show speak with a Southern accent, while all of the teenagers lack the accent, except for Dixie Sinclaire and Roxy.

Actor Dallas Roberts wears a bald cap and in some scenes that show his character Bob Armstrong putting on or taking off his toupee.

Debby Ryan (Patty) and Chloe Bridges (Roxy) are friends in real life, and met whilst filming The Longshots (2008). They have also acted in Daytime Divas (2017) together, making Insatiable their third collaboration.

In the first episode when Bob Armstrong (Dallas Roberts) and Coralee Armstrong (Alyssa Milano) were talking at the Spa, Coralee is reading a magazine that appears a poster from the show Pretty Little Liars and one of the directors Eloide Keene directed three episodes of that show.

Andrew Fleming (director of several episodes) previously collaborated with Robin Tunney (Brandylynn Huggens) and Christine Taylor (Gayle Keene) on The Craft (1996).

A pilot for the series was ordered by The CW, but passed on before Netflix picked up the series.

The series was filmed in Newnan, Georgia. Season 2 was filmed from early-March 2019 to late-June 2019.

Will Patty Be Caught?
The monstrous abilities of Patty were on full display once again throughout Season 2, as she killed her supposed father Gordy (Dana Ashbrook), three goons who were after her mom, and Stella Rose (Beverly D’Angelo) for real this time. It had become increasingly difficult for Patty to navigate life with all the killings at risk of being exposed. This was a major question heading into Season 2, yet the problem significantly escalated. And based on the Season 2 ending, it seems Patty is not done yet. With no season 3 planned will we get the answers to all our burning questions?

The show is based on the 2014 New York Times article "The Pageant King of Alabama" by Jeff Chu.

Stella Rose Buckley played by Beverly D'Angelo
Occupation: Pageant judge/coach
Family: Roxy Buckley (daughter; deceased)
Relationship: Bob Armstrong (ex-fling)
Bob Barnard (hook-up)

Initially, Stella Rose Buckely originally portrayed herself as a person with a motherly, nurturing temperament. But later revealed herself a very deceitful, malicious person with psychopathic tendencies.

Prior to the show's release, The Guardian reported on July 24, 2018, that over 100,000 people had signed an online petition on Change.org started on July 20, 2018, calling for Netflix to cancel Insatiable, accusing it of "fat shaming".

Lauren Gussis, the show's creator, defended the show, saying it was based on her own experiences as a teenager.

“Insatiable” is about a 17-year-old girl who loses a lot of weight, immediately transforms into a bombshell, and gets recruited to become a beauty pageant queen. Yet no matter what assumptions you think you can make about the 12-episode narrative based on this seemingly straightforward plot summary, think again.

This was already quoted in the very first post.

In the very first episode of Netflix’s Insatiable, lead Patty Bladell (Debby Ryan) nearly sets a man on fire in a hotel room. “My demon was out — and she was hungry,” she says before deciding against homicide. But, by the end of the series’ second episode, “Skinny Is Magic,” that would-be victim, Patty's nemesis John (Daniel Thomas May), is dead after Patty wishes for his demise. From then on, a whopping six people die by Patty’s hand without question. Still, Insatiable plays the carnage around Patty as a necessary and oftentimes humorous tragedy, even into season 2. The deeply problematic black comedy suggests Patty isn’t a cold-blooded killer — she’s a teen put in terrible situations.

The series received an approval rating of 11% based on 56 reviews, with an average rating of 2.68/10 on Rotten Tomatoes. The site's critic consensus reads: "Broad stereotypes, clumsy social commentary, and a failed attempt at wokeness make Insatiable hard to swallow." Metacritic reported a score of 25 out of 100 for the series, based on 15 critics, indicating "generally unfavorable" reviews.
