Default Helen Keller

A few weeks ago, I watched the episode called "The Big Dump". In this episode, Jack had eye surgery so that he would not need to wear glasses during actin auditions. After the surgery was over, he had to wear dark glasses like a blind person would wear while his eyes adjusted. During his time recovering, he and Will went to a saloon that drag queens frequent. While they were waiting to be served, a waiter approached Will and said, "you can ditch Helen Keller here and I'll show you who the real 'Miracle Worker' is". It was clear that the waiter thought that Jack was blind and thus was making a joke about Helen Keller. Prior to my time watching the episode, I did not know what the "Miracle Worker" was, but guessed that it had something to do with Helen Keller and that this man was making some type of play on words. I have since done some research and learned that it is a movie about Helen Keller. While doing the research, I learned that Helen Keller died in 1968. This is the year that this show's Debra Messing was born. I find it an interesting coincidence that the waiter made a joke about a woman who died the same year that one of the stars of this series was born.
