On a website someone commented that Curtis Croft, the 24 year-old snitch, cocaine dealer and boyfriend of Jennifer Pratt, committed suicide some time after the interview he gave to UM.

If you recall, Pratt received a wood plank behind the head on Curtis' motocycle. She received permanent brain damage, but recovered enough to communicate painfully. Police has surmised that he knew who attacked him and Jennifer, and he indeed gave some names. However he then recanted afterwards, saying that he felt pressured by the police into giving information.

If that is true, it is too bad that he didn't leave a note providing all of the information that he knew about who committed that horrible assault on Jennifer.

That could shoot down any chance of ever solving this case

If they made any note public, right? Is that what you mean?

Or, perhaps, he was "suicided" instead.

I originally meant that Curtis probably had info concerning the crime and if he did not reveal that info prior to killing himself, that may have destroyed any hopes the police have of solving the case.

On the other hand, police do not always release all information they gather (at the risk of spoiling the investigation). It is possible that Curtis did leave information but the police have not made that public until they the other parties for questioning. That said, if he killed himself shortly after the UM segment first aired, he probably did not leave info because I would think something would have been mentioned in an update,

I don't see a Curtis Croft listed in the SSDI that matches the individual from this case. Maybe he isn't dead. Was this reported recently?

Well, what I was wondering, was, is Curtis Croft even his real name? It sounds like a phony name to me. Certainly Curtis might not have been his real first name. Or it could be that he is still alive.

Ethel Kidd's son-in-law, Thomas Kidd, interviewed in the segment passed away in 1994 at the age of 51.
I was wondering if anyone knows why Ethel Kidd and her son-in-law have the same last name. That's a bit unusual

Good catch Tracy LynnS. The only reason I can think of is that maybe UM made the error and that his last name was not Kidd.

No, it was Kidd. Well, in some areas, some last names are quite plentiful. Franklin and Eleanor Roosevelt had the same last name before they were married as Eleanor's maiden name was Roosevelt. I believe her dad was a distance relative of Franklin's dad, like, she was like Franklin's 5th cousin or something, very distance. But I have seen this before, not particularly unusual in my opinion some last names are plentiful.

I thought that story was about a woman named Gail Samuel who was adopted. Or am I remembering this incorrectly?

One of the Vietnam vets who found the nurse who treated him died in 1999. He was the one who lost his leg. I remember the update coming at the end of the story with the update, where they did the freeze frame on his face. It was sad, but at least he had been reunited.
