That was fast. The war of words between "Cafe Oddity" co-stars just got a bit bigger. Just days after Hollywood Now published a report that said Whoopi Goldberg was fighting with most of her co-stars on "Cafe Oddity" comes word that the war of words officially got more public when Jenna Elfman tweeted a cryptic tweet that said "Beware of people who thrive on making you miserable." and then co-star Justine Bateman responded to her tweet with one of her own that said "and those same people always look for conflict, because they can't be happy on their own."

That probably wouldn't have generated much notice on its own, but things got out of hand when the supposed subject of those tweets, Goldberg herself responded to them with her own tweet that said "Respect the icons who earned their way in this business and show them the respect they deserve." Well Twitter just about exploded when that was published, it was retweeted 17,000 times in twenty minutes and as of Thursday at 9pm had been liked 1.9 million times. The responses were harsh. Nearly everybody on twitter, and believe me it is rare for anybody on twitter to agree; nearly everybody believed Goldberg was being catty and rude.

Now for the twist, Gen-TV executives who rarely (if ever) acknowledge or respond to those kind of issue publically issued their own statement that read "At Gen-TV we strive for a atmosphere of peace, tolerance and acceptance. We are very disheartened to hear of the discord between the cast members of our beloved sitcom Cafe Oddity." "Though production is currently shut-down on this and all our shows, we will be addressing these tweets and the source of conflict between the cast well before production resumes later this year."

UPDATE:

Goldberg Fired From "Cafe Oddity"
---Telma Hopkins to take over for her

Just hours after Hollywood Now published a report about a twitter feud between co-stars of "Cafe Oddity" comes official word from Gen-TV Executive Amy Fung-Wilson that "the situation at Cafe Oddity has been resolved in the only manner that was possible given the behind the scenes issues on the series." "Whoopi Goldberg has been fired from the show and will not return for the series third season in 2021."

"The tension between Goldberg and her co-stars was just too difficult a situation to manage without somebody leaving the show, and since Whoopi was the source of the majority of the tension it was only right that she exit." "We were not going to fire one of the series original cast members for anybody, even a star as famous as Whoopi."

Goldberg joined the cast in season two originally as a recurring guest star who was quietly upped to a series regular mid-way through the season. However, the increased screen time she got at the expense of other cast members began to become an issue; especially as Whoopi reportedly wanted even more and according to an internal investigation was even threatening producers that she would leave the show if some of her other cast members (Justine Bateman, Jenna Elfman) were fired so she could also get a higher salary.

Her character started off as a customer at the cafe in the series and mid-way through the season became a co-owner when she invested millions into the cafe. Sources say her character is going to be written out as having cancelled her investment in the cafe to travel around the world.

Gen-TV has already acted fast and hired veteran actress Telma Hopkins to replace Goldberg as the new co-owner.

For her part Whoopi has issued no statement regarding her exit from the show nor was it addressed on Thursdays "At Home" episode of "The View."

Breaking Report:
--Three More Leaving Series; Plus new Executive Producers

Gen-TV is taking serious its commitment to fixing things behind the scenes at "Cafe Oddity." The network confirmed today that they are fired executive producer/showrunners Chris Jameson, Tory Lemure and Sofie Ledwick and has brand new writers and producers for the show. The network has hired Neil Goldman and Garrett Donovan ("Superior Donuts", "Community", "Scrubs") to serve as Executive Producers and showrunners. The duo has also confirmed the hiring of several talented writers to join their writers room including Whitney Cummings ("2 Broke Girls", "Roseanne"); Jerrod Carmichael ("The Carmichael Show") and Jessica Williams ("The Daily Show"; "2 Dope Queens") will serve as the main writers on the show.

Next, Gen-TV has confirmed three cast members will exit the series ahead of season three. Cybill Shepherd, who joined the cast in the second season will exit the series; as will original cast members Jenna Elfman and Justine Bateman. In the case of Shepherd, it was a matter of the newest character leaving to make room for new characters to be introduced by the new regime. In the case of original cast members Bateman and Elfman, the situation is a bit more tense with neither completely happy on the set of the show or with their characters direction.

Additionally, Carmichael will join the cast of the show in a recurring role as "the new co-owner of the diner who has bought out the rights from Elise (Whoopi Goldberg's character); who is Elise's nephew and is "a good but very lost guy looking to find his place in the world following a series of personal tragedies." Whitney Cummings will also join the cast of the series in the new role of Avalon Lemure, a mysterious drifter who appears at the diner one night with her twelve year old son in toe and ends up getting a job and a place to stay.

Several other new cast members will join the series, but they will be announced at a later date.

Valerie Bertinelli is the only original cast member from season one who remains on the series, and her role will continue to be a series regular.

Default Gen-TV Studios Sets Date To Resume Production

Breaking News:
-Gen-TV To Become First Studio To Resume Production?

In a pretty shocking move, Gen-TV Studios has announced that it is setting a tentative date to resume production on all programming on August 1st. This announcement made by Amy Fung-Wilson, who heads up Gen-TV's COVID-19 Task Force and sent shockwaves throughout the entertainment industry as other studios have remained silent about when (or if) they'll resume production this year.

Her full statement said "Pending approval from the state of California, Gen-TV is setting a tentative date of August 1st, 2020 to resume production on all programming funded by Gen-TV Studios or any of its subsidiaries." "We have made this decision after having lengthy discussions with the state of California's COVID-19 task force and government leadership, including the governor's office." "While our main focus is the health and safety of our cast, crew and employees; Gen-TV hopes to have original programming ready to air by October 2020." "This is all of course pending approval from the state of California." "At this time we have no plans to resume production in our New York offices or studio spaces as the state of New York has flatly denied our request to resume production, as they are still in the middle of the pandemic."

Reaction to this announcement was fast, swift and enraged. Viewers pointed out that California is still dealing with the pandemic in large numbers as well and that resuming production will put many lives at risk. Many are calling for a boycott of Gen-TV Studios and are blaming Fung-Wilson for poor leadership. A petition online asking for her firing has received over 20,000 signatures since it was posted at 11am on Thursday morning.

Breaking Report:
-Gen-TV Resumes Production; with precautions

Following guidance from the California government, Gen-TV has resumed production on all programming earlier than expected. The studio opened the gates to its Los Angeles production lot on Friday for the first time since production was shut-down in March due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Shocking industry insiders, Gen-TV has fully opened up production on all of its programming far ahead of the proposed August date originally announced earlier this month.

On Friday, 11 of Gen-TV's series returned to various states of production, and the remainder are expected to follow suit within the next two and a half weeks. The series that were filming on Friday included "Having Faith", "Deadly Visions" and "Ready To Wear."

Gen-TV says "we are following all protocols, guidelines and regulations in regards to social distancing, testing and use of personal protective equipment such as face masks and gloves."

This news is unexpected as so far only one other TV series has resumed production; CBS's daytime soap opera "The Bold & Beautiful" which shut-down production after less than a day due to "a need to strengthen testing protocols."

The decision for Gen-TV to resume production was made by Amy Fung-Wilson, who is the head of Gen-TV's COVID-19 Response Team. The decision has been widely condemned by many including industry insiders at rival networks NBC, CBS and CW.

It looks like Gen-TV is making big changes to its corporate leadership in the wake of COVID-19 devastating Hollywood production schedules and shutting down all production for most of the year.

In response to the overwhelming burden caused by the virus, Gen-TV is shuffling its leadership to more fully work towards repairing the damage caused by the virus to Gen-TV's financial solvency. The studio has announced they are creating a COVID-19 leadership team, tasked with "repairing Gen-TV's financial state of affairs and recouping as much lost profits as possible following the completion of the pandemic." The new task force is going to be headed by Amy Fung-Wilson, currently the Vice President of Gen-TV Studios. She will exit that role to "completely devote herself to repairing Gen-TV's long-term viability." Fung-Wilson, joined Gen-TV last October when she was named Vice President and has proven herself to be a valuable and insightful presence at the company.

Replacing Fung-Wilson in the Vice President role is a top priority for Gen-TV, but they have not yet named a replacement at this time.
Breaking News:
---Gen-TV Names New V.P., Promises "Big Changes"

Since Amy Fung-Wilson has been moved over to the role of overseeing Gen-TV's COVID-19 Response Team, and tasked with bringing the network and studio back into financial solvency the search has been on to find a replacement in the role of Vice President, Gen-TV Studios.

Well, after an extensive search and discussions with several high-profile names, Gen-TV has finally confirmed a new Vice President.

Timothy Carver Jackson has been named to succeed Amy-Fung Wilson in the role. Jackson comes to Gen-TV from Houston, Texas where he mostly recently spent three years as news director for a local CBS affiliate. Prior to that he has a diverse and expansive resume in the industry including ten years as a creative consultant for NBC's "Days of Our Lives", five years as a unit producer for ABC News, where he mostly worked on "Good Morning America" and "The View" and he also spent three and a half years at CBS where he served as a consulting producer and floated through various CBS series including "The Bold & Beautiful", "The Big Bang Theory", "New Adventures of Old Christine" and "60 Minutes."

Jackson is 66 years old and has a solid reputation within the industry.

Gen-TV Ratings Report:

Delayed Ratings for week of Sunday, June 14-Saturday, June 20, 2020

Sunday, June 14:

Gen-TV aired an altered schedule to accommodate stretching episodes out over the remainder of the summer. They aired back to back reruns of "Ready To Wear" and "Kate & Ali" followed by recap specials for each. "Ready To Wear" fared better overall; outperforming "Kate & Ali." At 10pm, they aired the "Boston Blues" series finale, which originally streamed online at Stream-ME, but managed to net 17.5 in demos.

8pm: Ready To Wear (Rerun): Ratings Not Available

830: Kate & Ali (Rerun): Ratings Not Available

9pm Ready To Wear: Recap Special (New): 20.3 million/12.8 (12.83) 18-49

930: Kate & Ali: Getting Ready For Season 3 (New): 14.6 million/6.4 (6.43) 18-49

10: Boston Blues: Series Finale (New; Series Finale): 26.4 million/17.5 (17.56) 18-49

--------------

Monday, June 15:

Gen-TV chose to air an altered schedule on Monday; airing two episodes of "Breaking Blue" (one original, one rerun) followed by a brand new "Behind The Scenes" special about "Breaking Blue." The original episode of "Blue" was up in demos and total viewers and the BTS special was a solid performer as well.

8pm: Breaking Blue (New): 27.4 million/18.4 (18.48) 18-49

9pm: Breaking Blue (Rerun): Ratings Not Available

10pm: Breaking Blue: Behind The Wave Special (New; Special): 16.4 million/14.3 (14.38) 18-49

-------

Tuesday, June 16:

Gen-TV also aired an altered schedule on Tuesday, airing a brand new "Atlanta Medical" followed by a rerun of "Atlanta Medical" and a BTS special about the show. Sadly this didn't help much as "Atlanta Medical" dropped in demos and total viewers over last week and the new special wasn't able to gain much traction either.

8pm: Atlanta Medical (New): 15.1 million/6.5 (6.54) 18-49

9pm: Atlanta Medical (Rerun): Ratings Not Available

10: Atlanta Medical: Season 2 Secrets Special (New; Special): 11.1 million/2.8 (2.81) 18-49

Gen-TV's Board of Directors held its 2020 election on Thursday, February 6th and have elected a new board President. In a very decisive victory, Ross Chin was voted in as the President of the Board of Directors. Chin won by a wide margin with votes from nearly 87% of the boards voting membership.

The results were stunning as Benny Portman had been polling ahead of both Chin and Vargas by wide margins all year long. Dylan Garretson was in fourth place.

Here is the approximate breakdown of votes:

Ross Chin (Winner)--- 87%
Eva Vargas (Runner-Up)--9%
Benny Portman--3%
Dylan Garretson---1%

According to interviews conducted with voting members after the election; the decision to pick Ross Chin was an easy one with "trustworthiness", "experience" and "respectability" being the key factors in why he was their choice.

When asked about Eva Vargas many member stated she "wasn't trustworthy enough" and "had a stigma attached to her." Others said "she tarnishes our companies reputation" and "is out for her own fame and doesn't care about anybody else's needs."

According to new membership rules the President Elect now chooses their Vice President and shortly after being elected Ross Chin named Benny Portman as his Vice President. Additional board roles include Executive Secretary, Executive Treasurer, Executive Assistant to Board President and a newly created role being introduced this year called Executive Liaison-General Membership. This new role is designed to serve as the primary day to day contact for the general membership of the board (in other words, for all non-executive level members).

Here is the newly formed Executive Leadership of Gen-TV's Board of Directors:

President: Ross Chin
Vice President: Benny Portman
Executive Secretary: Dylan Garretson (chosen by Benny Portman)
Executive Treasurer: Travis Malwell Irons (chosen by Ross Chin)
Executive Assistant to President: Naomi Lakelia Lahoni (chosen by Benny Portman)
Executive Assistant to Vice President: Marjorie Adderson-Harper (chosen by Ross Chin)
Executive Liaison-General Membership: Tyrell Karter "T.K." Washington (elected by members in a 97% victory over opponent Lydia Kelsey-Campbell)

Voting took place at Gen-TV Studios massive Los Angeles compound, which houses its production studios and soundstages, executive offices and the incredible board of directors suites that include a large-scale auditorium allegedly modeled after the United States Senate. Voting began by secret ballot at 2:15pm and was completed by 3:25pm. After secret ballots were all submitted and counted it was time for members to verbally confirm their votes with a simple "yay" or "nay" to confirm their vote was correctly tallied. This process was completed at 5:35pm.

It was clear by 4:26pm that Ross Chin had a clear victory over the other candidates and the outgoing President asked all affected parties to consider conceding. Eva Vargas was the first to call her concession followed by Dylan Garrettson. Benny Portman waited until all votes were confirmed to give his concession speech.

Ross Chin walked to the podium to accept the Presidency and gave a brief speech thanking the candidates for running a clean and ethical campaign and promising to assure that Gen-TV is run in a moral and ethical manner. It was then that he named Benny Portman as his Vice President and Portman rose to thank him and announced Dylan Garretson as his choice for Executive Secretary. The other roles were confirmed later in the week in a company memo that was sent on on Friday.

In addition to running all board meetings; the President of Gen-TV's Board of Directors is the primary figure of authority regarding all of Gen-TV's financial matters and has in recent years become a secondary CEO to the company. For compensation the board President receives an annual salary of just over 526,000 a year plus numerous bonuses, commissions and incentives.

The Vice President receives an annual salary of 410,000 a year; while the other Executive Members all receive salaries ranging from 300,000 at the high end to 110,000 at the low end.

Due to board rules, the Executive Leadership are elected to four-year terms, but must be reconfirmed by a majority of the membership (at least 75%) in two-years or they will not be permitted to finish their four-year term and a new election will be held to fill the role.
Breaking News:
--Eva Vargas Suing Gen-TV

Former Gen-TV President Eva Vargas sent shockwaves through the TV industry today when she filed in Los Angeles and New York courts, a civil lawsuit of over 18 million dollars against Gen-TV Studios for "unlawful termination" and "employment discrimination" following her 2019 firing from the studio.

For those who don't recall Vargas was fired from the company in April 2019 after news spread that she had been arrested in connection with "Operation Varsity Blues" (or the college admissions scandal) alongside Felicity Huffman and Lori Loughlin. Vargas was later found guilty and sentenced to an almost three year prison term. However as facts of the case emerged after her conviction (through a plea deal) it became clear that something was amiss. Vargas maintained her innocence all along and in late 2019 she filed her first appeal, and after several failed attempts her conviction was finally overturned with the judge releasing an passionate ruling that said "Eva Vargas is not only factually innocent of the charges for which she was forced to accept a plea deal for, she was forced to accept guilt for actions she did not commit." "Despite her repeated pleas for help nobody within this justice system was willing to listen to her, even though she had ironclad proof that demonstrated far beyond a reasonable doubt that there was no way she would have been capable of commiting the crimes she was accused of." "Not only does Ms. Vargas not have the financial means to bribe her children into college for the amounts she was accused of, she has verifiable proof that the checks in question did not bear her signature and that she has never spoken to in any way the people she was accused of conspiring with." "Ms. Vargas is not only completely innocent she is the victim of a far reaching and unfair conspiracy against her." "She is to be freed immediately and her convictions overturned and erased from her record as she has not committed any crime."

She was released within hours of her conviction being overturned and despite a clean record her reputation was destroyed and she has been unable to find work since. The basis of her suit is that being fired from Gen-TV was unlawful as she has committed no crime and that Gen-TV acted hastily in spreading false rumors about her work ethic through the industry.

The lawsuit has the potential to be a huge problem for Gen-TV if it goes to trial; as Vargas is not only seeking financial compensation she is asking for her job back plus a public apology from Gen-TV.

Vargas has also filed a separate lawsuit against the states of California, New York and the USA Federal Government for their roles in her being imprisoned. That lawsuit is worth over 30 million dollars and was filed today on behalf of Vargas by her attorneys.

Legal Notice:

Eva Vargas is a fictional character and this is a work of fiction. There is no real lawsuit. Gen-TV is a fictional company and there is no lawsuit against a TV network. This is just for entertainment.
