Yup it's from my youth, i was in 7th grade and loved it. I can't believe all the Original Airings I been collecting from the 1987-88 era and still haven't come across the commercial |

I never said I prefer bad quality, i just said the Quality of the TV show from a Original Network Airing doesn't have to be as GOOD as a TV show from Cable WITHOUT commercials |

I will say that I'd prefer an original airing over a syndicated airing, even if the image/sound quality is superior on the syndicated airing. Unless I'm guaranteed the syndicated version is uncut. I prefer good quality uncut over pristine image/sound quality that's been edited down. On truly rare stuff that I want, I'll take it any way I can find it.
As for commercials ... I once borrowed a friend's recording of the original airing of North and South, specifically to grab promos for Shadow Chasers, which debuted the week after. The promos were so goofy and out there (and full of current ABC stars, not to mention series producer Ron Howard - it was an early Imagine Entertainment project), I still get a chuckle out of them today. When people record for me overseas, I ask that they keep commercials intact. I like to see commercials from other countries. I'll never forget watching a tape recorded in Australia in the early '80s, and finding a commercial for an American furniture chain that had just moved into Australia as well. It was just too surreal. :> |

i like commercials if they're from an original airing from 20 years ago or more. if they're any more recent than that, they're just not old enough for me to be nostalgic about.. however, i'd NEVER turn down a set just because it didn't have commercials, they're not THAT important to me..
