"The Young and the Restless" will have a Kristoff St. John Storyline
by Bruce Haring
February 7, 2019

Actor Kristoff St. John, who died Sunday, will be honored with a future storyline on his longtime show, "The Young and the Restless". Expected to begin in late April, the story will pay tribute to his character, Neil Winters, and his real-life persona, according to CBS.

A special tribute will be featured in Fridayís hourlong Y&R episode, which airs at 12:30 PM ET and 11:30 AM PT. The show has asked fans to ďflood our timelinesĒ on social media with St. John photos as part of the homage.

The actorís final Y&R scene aired Wednesday. He had played Winters since 1991, with his love story with Drucilla WInters (Victoria Rowell) becoming a fan favorite.

Kristoff St. John's Neil Winters was a transformative black TV character

St. John, who died Sunday at age 52, originated the role of Winters in 1991, playing him all the way until his death, becoming the second-longest-serving black soap opera actor after Days of Our Lives' James Reynolds. "Black men like Neil have been hard to come by on television," says Stacy Y. China. "He was a young, up-and-coming executive at Newman Enterprises, fresh out of Stanford. He was self-assured without being arrogant, and down-to-earth without being a caricature or a clown. He was ambitious, he loved his friends, and he got along well with all of those veteran, high-flying executive types." China adds: "St. John was still a young man on a veteran show. He could have had many more years as Neil, wrangling with a younger generation led by his children, Lily and Devon. Through it all, Neil was not a thug, not a troubled child, not somebody the white people needed to save. He did not need 'help.' He was an equal. He wasn’t anyone’s charity project. All he needed was a chance, and Genoa City gave him that." ALSO: A future Young and the Restless storyline will pay tribute to St. John and his character.

Kristoff St John fans disappointed with Friday's Young and the Restless tribute

The Y&R Twitter account tweeted that the soap would air a "special tribute" to the late actor today. Viewers were left confused when the tribute lasted about a minute at the end of Friday's episode.

by Lynette Rice
March 19, 2019

Several old friends will return to "The Young and the Restless" to help say goodbye to longtime star Kristoff St. John, who died on Feb. 4 at the age of 52.

EW has learned exclusively that Shemar Moore (Malcolm Winters), Victoria Rowell (Drucilla Winters) and Mishael Morgan (Hilary Curtis Winters) will participate in several episodes of the CBS daytime drama to pay final respects to St. John, who played Neil Winters since 1991.

Moore will reprise his role as Neilís brother for two episodes airing April 25-26, while Rowell and Morgan will appear as themselves in a special tribute episode on April 29.

The latter will include former and current cast members sharing memories of St. John and will also feature clips of St. Johnís most memorable moments.

"Y&R" Reveals New Details of Kristoff St. John Farewell Arc
by Michael Ausiello
April 15, 2019

"The Young and the Restless" has announced new details regarding its sendoff to late cast member Kristoff St. John. The farewell arc will air Tuesday, April 23 through Friday, April 26, with a storyline in which his character Neil Winters “passes away unexpectedly,” per the network.

A tribute episode follows on Monday, April 29, with current and former Y&R stars sharing memories of St. John’s 28-year run on the soap.

"In the special episodes, Genoa City gathers to remember one of their own when Neil Winters passes away unexpectedly. Neil’s family and friends come from near and far to pay their respects and remember their cherished father, colleague, brother and friend. Neil’s family learns of his passing on Tuesday, April 23 and the story will be featured prominently for the remainder of the week.

Shemar Moore reprises his role of Neil’s brother, Malcolm Winters, for two episodes, on April 25 and April 26. Christel Khalil (Lily Ashby) and Eileen Davidson (Ashley Abbott) also return for this storyline. Additionally, actor Stan Shaw, Kristoff’s longtime friend and co-star from Roots: The Next Generations, will appear as the Reverend at Neil’s funeral on April 25.

I missed this one. For those who don't know, he also appeared as a kid in the short-lived CBS sitcom, The Bad News Bears. This was in 1979 and 1980.

Belatedly, RIP.
