the drives go out eventually and its cheaper to get a new one than to replace the laser on the old one

Periodically reformatting the hard disk of a Panasonic recorder (often if you do a lot of editing) will prevent many problems before they occur and solve many problems afterwards. Unfortunately, you lose what's on the hard disk when you reformat, so it is best to do it before there is a problem.

thanks to all that replied. I guess the problem is the machine. I'm going to download a program Panasonic offers to its customers with older machines to help enhance its use. Hope it helps.

Anyone ever use Imation DVD-R or DVD+R discs? What did you think? They are on sale for $19.99/100 at my local Future Shop and was just wondering if they were any good.

I just recently switched brands. I went to the Imation brand, and it works best on my dvd recorder. haven't had any problems as of yet. They seem to work really good. I'd try a pack if I were you. I did use memorex, but they always ended up giving me problems, so i switched to Imation. They seem to be a better quality disc than memorex. Give them a try and if they don't work for you, you can always go to another brand.

I'll pass! You'll learn the hard way eventually! Taiyo Yuden, Yuden, Verbatim, or discs made in Japan-that is what expereienced traders who like to keep their collections working use.

Will someone please kill this thread

I do use Taiyo Yudens. I was simply asking if anyone used Imations because they are on sale. Sorry if the thread offends you, but you can always, oh I don't know....not click on it!

There is a reason these discs are so cheap. Ever wonder about that?

Personally, I won't trade with anyone who won't send my side of the trade on Verbatim, TY, and sometimes Ritek.

These discs aren't usually that cheap here. Another reason I asked.
