-Dietrich's debut episode "Fish" (2x12) was the first and only time he wore a brown suit rather than a grey one (brown was a better colour on him).
-"The DNA Story" (6x10) was the only episode with a scene inside the Men's Room. -Fish doesn't appear in "Goodbye Mr. Fish Part 1" (4x01) despite his name being in the episode title. -Nick always wore his brown leather jacket and rose coloured shades when he went out on calls. |

A few more:
There is no laugh track in "Landmark Part 1" (8x20) although you can hear occasional laughs from the film crew. Harris got the first and last lines in the Squad Room: "12 Precinct, Detective First Grade Harris". "Come on li'l Sergeant". In "Jack Soo: A Retrospective" (5x24), Ron Glass doesn't say anything about his departed friend. I've only seen episodes in syndication so maybe his tribute was edited out? |

In season 5 episode 6, "The Accusation," in the last two or three minutes of the episode, Wojo walks out the door with his jacket on, escorting a prisoner, and the scene continues with the woman who made the accusation against Deitrich talking to Deitrich and then Barney. She's hesitant to leave alone, and when Barney asks her if she's suggesting another police officer take her home again, all the officers, including Wojo, are at their desks acting like they have a lot of work to do.

In "The Radical" (5x11), Dietrich tells Harris he protested the Vietnam War back in '57 when he was 14. Yet in "Voice Analyzer" (5x14) the last line is him telling the guys he was born on October 23rd, 1947. Was he just messing with Harris or was he actually an alien? ![]() |

Both Levitt and Dietrich appeared first on the show as another character.

Antenna TV is showing "The Guest" and "The Escape Artist" tonight. I think those are the bezt episodes of Season 1, and probably the first two really excellent episodes in the series?

Something that I noticed but forgot about until today, Harris calls Levitt "little Levitt" often during the last few seasons of the show.
Now re-watching the series (we're on to season 6 on the channel that airs the show) the first episode that I've noticed that Harris calls Levitt that is episode 6 of the sixth season, "Strip Joint." I don't know why he started calling Levitt that, and Levitt doesn't seem to mind. One of the guest stars (a Hispanic stripper) does call Levitt "Poco" which does translate to "little bit" but Levitt doesn't understand the word, and the woman lies about what it means when he asks her. It seems mean of Harris to pick on Levitt in that way, especially because Levitt is so sensitive about his height or lack of height, but I feel like I missed something about how it started, if Harris just picked up on what the woman was calling Levitt in that episode. |

"The Desk" (6x8) had storylines about a violent criminal who got an amygdalotomy and an Amish man who was mugged. The following episode "The Judge" (6x9) had a subplot about Nick's desk being removed from the squad room (only to have it brought back at the end for Levitt). This episode should have been titled "The Desk".

Yes he does, it was edited out on TVLand and a few other places for some reason. Ron talks about Jack affectionately and about the episode “Hash” with much amusement. I have no idea why it was edited out. Maybe because of the drug reference? Pretty stupid if so.

The trumpet at the end of "Fog" is an improvisation on a tune called "I Can't Get Started." It was recorded by many vocalists of the mid-20th century. This is a jazz ensemble version where you can occasionally hear bits of the melody from "Fog":

I just noticed that the bag lady in "Corporation" is Fran Ryan, who was the second Doris Ziffel on Green Acres.
