Default Was Hang Time the beginning of sports related teen sitcoms?

I think when NBC debuted Hang Time on their TNBC lineup I think it marked the start of sports related teen sitcoms. Because I think teens really liked sports and were on sports teams in high school and NBC thought that Hang Time would appeal to the teen crowd that liked basketball. I also thought it was weird that the show was named Hang Time because Hang Time sounds like a term for staying home and they should named it Double Dribble instead. Why Hang Time became such a hit I have never figured out and I think had they not focused so much on the basketball oriented storyline and had more interesting plots Hang Time would've been better. But it's a shame you don't see shows about ice skaters or teen football gymnastics or even a swimming team based sitcom but I think Hang Time was truly the beginning of teen sports sitcoms

Most likely the beginning of female sports related teen sports in real life before it became the beginning of this type of female sports related teen sitcom.

NBA was founded in 1893, which was all male. Since NBA attracted more attention on multi-scorings, especially to females along the way, the female NBA was then founded in 1895, which is way before WNBA was first formed. Since this Hang Time sitcom was first aired in 1995, then female NBA successfully celebrated its centennial anniversary, 1895-1995.
