Presumably, your wound was bandaged. Those layers of gauze or bandages would serve the same purpose as a mask: providing a sterile barrier to protect people from disease. But people with infectious respiratory diseases can't wear a bandage over their mouths and noses. Instead, everyone must wear masks around the infected person. This is a basic medical principle which has been recognized for over a century. If someone told you surgical masks don't protect people from germs, they are disagreeing with doctors from the 1960s, who most certainly are not involved in any conspiracy theory you are now imagining.

Go check all the non 100's of mask wearing at the hospitals after Pandemic is gone.

Have you been in a hospital setting or rehab setting? I have and I saw no masks but the OR .....

Yes, I've been in several hospitals and clinics over the years.

What were you doing in the infectious disease ward of the hospital, if your problem was a leg wound?
