If the character of Archie had been put into a new setting or locale, with new supporting characters, then I would say it's a spinoff.

It's a 100% continuation. The only differences were that Edith eventually was written off and there were more scenes at the bar. But he lived at the same house with Stephanie and had the same friends and barflies surrounding him.

It's a continuation - DEAL WITH IT!!

End of discussion!

I don't remember the name of the website, if someone here does, maybe they could post a link. But it lists shows that are spin-offs and shows that are continuations. They list Archie Bunker's Place as a continuation. Not that that makes it official, I just thought it was worth mentioning in this thread.

"Joey" is a spin-off. It took Joey Tribbianni from "Friends" and set him in a new locale, a new cast and made him the star.

"Rhoda" is a spin-off. It took Rhoda Morgenstern from "The Mary Tyler Moore Show", gave her a new setting, a new cast and made her the star.

"Frasier" is a spin-off. It took Frasier Crane from "Cheers" gave him a new locale, a new cast and made him the star.

"Archie Bunker's Place" is a continuation. It continued over from "All in the Family" with the same cast, just paid more attention to the bar.

"Mayberry, R.F.D." is a continuation. It continued with the town of Mayberry, just losing Andy, Opie and Helen and adding Sam Jones.

"Three's a Crowd" is confusing to me. The producers making it, considered a spin-off, I believe. They ended "Three's Company" when they did, just so they could make the new show. They were copying off of the British version of "Robin's Nest." It's a continuation of Jack's life, but since he's the ONLY character from "Three's Company" to do "Three's a Crowd" it makes me kind of consider it a spin-off. It's just funny the idea of giving the STAR of a show, their own show. They already had their own show, lol.

You are talking about Tom Holbrook's crossover/spinoff Site. I usually find it by going to google and putting the Laverne and Shirley and Mork and Mindy Crossover

Consider this: a continuation is simply one type of spin-off and thus Archie Bunker's Place can be considered both a spin-off and a continuation. However, not every spin-off would be a continuation, but every continuation would be a spin-off.

If the Main character is involved it's never a spinoff

True, I can't think of any series in which the main character has been spun-off onto another show.
