I think Archie Bunkers Place is a continuation. I've never seen the show before, but I know all the main characters from the last season of AITF stayed on the show when it became ABP, so IMO it's a continuation.

And I have the Complete Directory to Prime Time Network TV Shows book and theres a section that lists all the spinoffs and Archie Bunker's Place isn't listed. In fact, they even mention All in the Family in the spinoff section "The all-time spinoff champion is All in the Family, which has spawned no fewer than 5 other series, three of them highly successful and two of them spin-offs from spin-offs (Gloria, Maude, The Jeffersons, Good Times, and Checking In)" They don't say anything about ABP.

Here's an excerpt from a 1981 Norman Lear interview conducted by Bill Moyers in which Mr. Lear refers to Archie Bunker's Place as an extension.

NL: I was pleased to see it conclude, because we had all exercised our abilities those nine or ten years - and Carroll wanted to do something different with the extension, called "Archie Bunker's Place." But had we all wished to continue, we could have gone another ten years...

The entire interview can be found here:

It's a different show, that had 4 seasons. Anyway you put it, it was a spinoff of All in the family. It was a show about the happenings of Archie and his bar.

Well Solomon doesn't believe that Good Times was a spinoff.
